It's been a crazy 12 months in the D365 world. This time last year things were slowing down dramatically. Projects being put on hold. Some cancelled entirely. Very different outlook so far this year with a mass of project activity globally. A few things which makes this one of the most attractive markets in years: 1) A lot of projects are failing. And failing hard. Whilst this isn't ideal for the business involved it does create so much opportunity and highlights some of the biggest issues in the market right now. 2) Smaller consulting firms are on the rise. I know of a fair few projects that have been lost my the 'major' players and won by a smaller partner. I predict the smaller partners to become increasingly vociferous as more failing projects are recovered. 3) A number of larger partners reduced their headcount last year yet are reluctant to turn away any business in a more buoyant market. Clients are unwittingly signing up to projects that are likely doomed from the start. 4) End users are beginning to hire internal D365 specialists more and more. Even compared to the 'recruiter friendly' market of 2022 when seemingly everyone was hiring. Has the penny finally dropped? 5) Whilst the whole D365 product suite is performing well, Business Central is blazing a trail in the small/midsize space. I'm counting hundreds of new projects a week. This is where so many D365 F&SCM end users go so wrong. But it's not entirely their fault. 'Need someone who has expert knowledge of finance and supply chain modules. Must be able to analyse business processes but also customise and configure the system. Must be hands on but also experienced in leading teams and projects. Will need to influence C-suite and internal stakeholders whilst also being the key liaison with external partners. Should know how to read and write code too. Important to know the deployment process using Azure DevOps. Microsoft certified is a must. Should have a good understanding of our industry.' This is a shopping list 🛒 As a lover of football, this is what this 'shopping list' converts to. ⚽ The skill of Messi, pace of Mbappe and finishing ability of Ronaldo. With the creativity of Iniesta, passing ability of Xavi and stamina of Makelele. Defensive and leadership qualities of Maldini with the presence of Schmeichel. A unicorn is very different to a 'utility player'. And why is this not entirely the fault of the end user? Because every day a recruiter out there is putting a new prospect onto their worn out little pedestal and listening to this nonsense without pushing back at all. Not all D365 consultants are good. Some are really bad. Some are excellent. But might be useless for your needs. One may have 20 years of experience. But has never touched a project like yours. One may have just 3 years of experience. But knows your industry inside out. 'But we just need a D365 consultant'. Simplicity is admirable. BUT we are talking here about handing over the keys to a space shuttle not a lawn mower. A multi-dimensional system built on a modular architecture where a 'one size fits all approach' is useless. Curiosity and complexity beat simplicity here. And you will quickly see why the right D365 consultant is worth far more than what you are paying them. #microsoft #dynamics365 #d365

THIS IS BIG 👉 tl;dr Microsoft's getting rid of LCS and introduces Unified Admin Experience in Power Platform admin center. Microsoft is introducing a new approach to managing finance and operations apps: the Unified admin experience. Currently in preview, this integration aims to consolidate administration tasks within the Power Platform admin center. ❔ What it Means Traditionally, administrators juggled separate interfaces for Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management, Project Operations, Commerce applications, and Power Platform creations. The unified experience intends to bring these functionalities together, offering: ➕ Centralized Management: A single platform to manage finance, operations, and custom Power Platform apps. ➕ Streamlined Interface: Consistency in user interface and actions across all integrated applications. ➕ Potential Efficiency Gains: Reduced context switching and learning curves through a unified environment (potential benefits need to be evaluated during the preview phase). While this unified experience aims to provide complete, end-to-end business application experiences, it’s still too early to determine whether this new experience will be better or worse than the current state. As with any new feature or change, there will likely be a learning curve and potential challenges to overcome.
