Elemental Wright - Meet Pentimento Pentimento is based on a drawing made by Vernon D. Swaback, one of Wright’s apprentices. It is a systematic floral pattern that expresses the inherent geometry in nature. Different weaves and a special slub yarn are used in specific areas of the floral pattern to create tactility and depth, while still retaining the delicate, hand-drawn quality of the original work. We are so thankful for the opportunity to have Pulaski Schools high school students working with us through the Youth Apprenticeship Program. We appreciate their commitment to Wood Tech Industries and are certain they will make a positive impact on our society in whatever vocation they choose to pursue. Mason Murray: "I like working with my hands and am thinking about doing something in construction. I like working with the team members because a lot of the jobs we do here (at Wood Tech) are with someone else." Trevor Daniels: "I like learning about all the different machines and working in a shop with the people (at Wood Tech Industries)." Mason Christensen: "I want to go into some sort of career in woodworking and learning about all the different types of machines has really helped me." Last year, we did demo event "hand scissors versus electric machine" to show the herders how efficient it is and why the technique and proper learning is the key. Based on this video, lots of herders and cooperatives would like to send their trainees to our 2024 summer training. big and exciting season is coming :-) Mongolia has 50 million sheep and only 0.6mil out of 3.2 million population lives in countryside. Statistically we should have 35000tn wool per year however because of traditional hand scissor still dominates in countryside market has 19-20thousand tn wool.

Parable of the Two Goldfish This "parable" was given as "ministry" at this Sunday's Quaker meeting. The friend (Quakers refer to each other as friends") who gave this ministry has had a very interesting life including being an apprentice at the (then) Electricity Generation Board, being a Yoga teacher and probation worker concerned with helping youngsters with a difficult life find rewarding careers and apprenticeships in the field of engineering. The parable itself is a true story. As a young man I shared a small flat with a schoolteacher. His pet was a goldfish that lived in a small (goldfish bowl) aquarium in the flat. One day his pupils got him a goldfish as company for his existing goldfish. I felt that the goldfish bowl was a rather cramped environment for two goldfish. One day, as luck would have it, there was a discount sale on at the local pet store and, on sale, was a fine aquarium that I could afford. I bought it and took it back to our flat, put the goldfish bowl with the two goldfish into it and then filled the aquarium with water so that the level came well above the top of the goldfish bowl. The new goldfish whose life had not been spent confined to a goldfish bowl soon discovered the "wider world of the aquarium" outside of the goldfish bowl. The older goldfish could not bring itself to cross the threshold of the goldfish bowl. One day I was the two goldfish "nose to nose" either side of the goldfish bowl. Eventually, as if encouraged by the younger goldfish the older goldfish crossed the threshold and discovered the wider world outside the goldfish bowl. The lesson/metaphor, of course is how our lives can be impoverished by being trapped in a "goldfish bowl of a materialistic world" and that it takes a friend whose sense of discovery is less confined to help us discover a richer and more fulfilling life. #Materialism #Perspective #Fulfillment #Enrichment #Vision #Parable I feel this parable has the makings of a fine "illustrated story book". https://lnkd.in/eU_7A9Gn

It’s time for celebration at the John Deere site in Mannheim, Germany – twice! One, because it has been 100 years since the first apprentices passed through our gates to learn their craft. From that day in 1923 on, thousands have followed – young people who have since helped build the tools and machines that fed the growing world population. And two, because since September, that number has grown by another 44. 38 new apprentices and 6 dual students have embarked on their new technical careers at our Mannheim factory. In the coming years, they will learn everything they need to work in one of the most dynamic and relevant industries: agriculture. And the need for trained professionals is greater than ever – both in Germany and beyond. The skills shortage is real. This makes us especially happy to do our part in overcoming this challenge and educate the next generation of professionals in a variety of sectors. Excited for my daughter Anna. Last week we attended Camp War Eagle, Auburn's orientation program. She was able to experience what campus life will be like with approximately 250 other incoming freshmen. A comprehensive overview of the school was provided, and students were able to enroll in classes. It was a VERY busy 2 days. The entire process confirmed she has made the right decision, and she is ready to get started in a few short weeks. War Eagle! How do you make decisions as a family? On Sunday 23 June, we'll be celebrating International Women in Engineering Day. This year’s theme is #Enhancedbyengineering and I'm really proud to share some of our fabulous female talent across our Maintenance team #propertyproud #tescoproperty #maintenance  Amy Hopkinson is one of our amazing Maintenance Technicians. Here's her story... Why should women be engineers and how did you get into it?  I am an only child brought up by a disabled single mother, and I had very few male role models to look up to. It was difficult as if there was a problem it usually meant I had to figure it out myself. In maintenance terms, even if we had to put a picture frame up it meant a lot of broken drill bits and subsequently learning how to patch up a lot of holes in the wall (sorry mum!).  But this meant I was able to become my own role model I would have needed growing up. If there is a problem I will always give it a go which is what any engineering department is at its core, and a lot of women have this ability to analyse an issue or think about how something can be improved and act on it. Why choose Tesco as a career? I joined as a Tesco Maintenance apprentice. Tesco apprenticeships were offering a higher starting salary, which was such a huge point for me as I had already moved out from home and as we all do, had bills to pay. Because Tesco offered more than most, it meant I was able to start studying while working and still support myself. Do you have any advice for any women considering a role in engineering?  Just go for it. If you have an interest in problem-solving you’re already halfway there. The experience you will gain in technical abilities will come as you learn. I am still learning something new every day three years later and I don’t expect that to change any time soon!
