During a presentation held in Lisbon as part of the EnviroTech Conference and Exhibition, our Head of Strategic Innovation & Business Development, Manel Guillem, has emphasized the use of alternative fuels as a lever for decarbonization: "To achieve a high thermal substitution rate, it is necessary to ensure the availability and quality of alternative fuels. Solenco Power NV is part of the consortium by the name of “Industrial Symbiosis to Hubs for Circularity (IS2H4C)”. The project's ambition is to set a new standard in sustainable regional development models, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future. Led by Dr. Devrim Murat Yazan, the project has its purpose to make the European Union the first digitally-led circular, climate-neutral and sustainable economy. Our part in this project is to explore how hydrogen can be produced, stored and transported. As well as exploring how to integrate and optimize the operation of multiple energy vectors, including electricity, heat, and fuels. Solenco’s focus is on the challenges of hydrogen integration, including grid and infrastructure, storage, transportation, and distribution. For four years, IS2H4C will implement its innovative model in four key hubs across Europe: Hub Twente in the Netherlands (in collaboration with H2 Hub Twente and UT), Basque Hub in the north of Spain, Höchst Industrial Park in Germany, and Izmir-Manisa Hub in Türkiye. #IS2H4C #solencopower #industrialsymbiosis #euproject #horizoneurope #UTwente

Paris's Metro system is taking a step towards sustainability with a new twist at the Miromesnil Metro station. Energy firm IBERDROLA converted six turnstiles into mini-turbines, generating 0.2 watts of energy with each turn. While this may sound small, with 1.5 billion passengers annually, it has the potential to generate 136MW of clean energy and offset 30,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. These turnstiles were even 3D printed using a corn starch-based biodegradable material, emphasizing the importance of sustainable energy transitions. It's a reminder that even our daily routines, like passing through a turnstile, can be part of the bigger picture towards a greener future.
