WHY TEAM OFFSITES MATTER … and what I learned during Calista Direct Investors S.A.’s offsite in Lisbon last week 🇵🇹✨✨✨🎈 Of the necessity to prepare the program on site with care and diligence - while allowing for a bit of improvisation - kudos to Chief of Staff Natalia Koltunovskaya on this! Of the relevance of having pre set objectives and pre agreed framework to which everyone contributes by preparing his/her views to share Of the importance of open dialogue where each person can express him/herself freely - no judgement Of the usefulness of allowing for slack time to be used at one’s discretion between 2 group activities Of the great energy created by a mix of work and play content - all disconnected from day to day office life >> TREMENDOUS FUN! Of the absolute need to come out with clear actionable plans to follow through and make it tangibly useful I came out of those 3 days feeling even more energised, focused and clearsighted to execute the vision behind “CALISTA 3.0” by 2025: Above and beyond delivering excellence for our families, I owe it to my team to create, foster and deliver success based on mutual trust and long-term value creation - in a spirit of partnership. ☀️ Reflecting on an incredible week in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where I had the privilege of strengthening bonds with my team members from Austria, Canada, and Brazil. Meeting face-to-face brought a whole new dimension to our collaboration — allowing us to ask questions in real-time, exchange valuable insights, and truly connect on a personal level. 📈 What unites us as a team is that we find joy and laughter in our work, and every day, we make it a priority to cultivate a strong team spirit. Together, we're focused on data-driven marketing activities, leveraging each team member's unique strengths and expertise. The diversity of knowledge and skills in this team is fascinating, and I feel fortunate to be a part of it. 🔍 Additionally, I had the pleasure of connecting with my engineering colleagues from SMART Products, Carlos Flório and Alexandre Paim, who are also based in Brazil. This opportunity provided me with a deeper understanding of the product group I work for. It was truly fascinating to dive into their world, gaining insights into the products and their functionalities & history longing back to the 80's when environmental aspects begun to rise. Having Kandinsky in Carlos' office gave me already a great feeling of our upcoming collaboration. This is something I couldn't have seen in Teams. 🙏 Thank you to my colleagues and supervisor who made our discussions enjoyable even during the long hours. For such a young team (set up in the beginning of 2023), I am looking forward to the incredible journey ahead! What does an Office day at StingOrg GmbH look like? It actually starts the day before… Once a month I drive to our HQ in Bremen, Germany. That’s a cosy 4,5hour drive. Plenty of time for listening to Podcasts and calling people. In the evening I arrive at the hotel and meet up with my colleague, Jan Carle. He’s so kind to order my drink upfront because hotel bars close too early in Germany 😅. We catch up with a drink, share stories and debate (of course). We also laugh a lot and go to sleep too late (Oops). The next day… 1. I wish I had gone to bed earlier, but anyways the breakfast at the hotel is awesome. 2. Arrive at the office and greet all my colleagues (including hugs for the ones who want - or don’t want 🙃) while taking my coffee. 3. Discuss project progress, personal highlights and share company updates. 4. Free time to spend with colleagues, discuss industry news. 5. Training on pitfalls and practical do’s and don’ts on Coaching by Anschela Sellschopp. 6. Eat sushi together. 7. Engaging workshop on Lean Management by one of our company’s leaders, Rolf Eickmann. I learnt that the Coaching Kata is often not applied at companies, unfortunately. 8. Eat too much chocolates. 9. More time to talk to our colleagues, interview candidates and discuss the strategy for the Belgian branch with our founder Malte Stöckert during a walk in the area. When I get back home, I feel incredibly energised, motivated and grateful that I can help companies in MedTech improve together with my 🦄 StingOrg colleagues.
