PRECIOUS ROCKET: HyPrSpace's Orbital Baguette-1, the OB-1, pronounced like the Star Wars character Obi-Wan, promises launches at half the cost of traditional #micro-launchers. The OB-1 hybrid propulsion system employs a patented innovation, significantly reducing R&D and industrialization costs. Its architecture requires fewer components and has simpler geometry than traditional systems, eliminating the need for turbopumps. Lockheed Martin submit a bid to acquire spacecraft manufacturer Terran Orbital Corporation, the Prime revealed in a securities filing. The cash offer values Terran just under $600mm. SpaceX's recent valuation surged to approximately $150 billion following a secondary share sale. This transaction primarily involved existing shares without a fresh capital infusion. Elon Musk previously indicated there was no urgent capital need for their Starship and Starlink ventures. Notably, such secondary sales are semi-annual events for SpaceX, allowing internal stakeholders to liquidate shares. Chinese company iSpace has made a successfully "hop" test with a rocket booster. This is is similar to the hop tests SpaceX carried out before eventually making routine landings and reuses of its Falcon 9 first stages. The test was part of the development of the company's Hyperbola rocket series, which may make an orbital launch as soon as 2025. In addition to the Hyperbola-3 rough equivalent of the medium-lift Falcon 9, a three-body heavy-lift version akin to a Falcon Heavy is also being designed. Hyperbola rockets will use methane for fuel, which may make vehicle turnarounds faster and easier. This is because the kerosene fuel used on Falcon tends to leave engine soot deposits which must be removed before reflight. https://lnkd.in/grBC77yj
