I asked 200 job seekers what they hated most about job searching? Wanna know what the top 3 picks were? 1️⃣ Getting ghosted by recruiters (hands down the most common complaint) 2️⃣ Uploading a resume AND being asked to fill out an application (Workday was one ATS that came up a lot) 3️⃣ Having to create and manage multiple accounts on employer websites There are reasons why all three of these things happen, but that doesn't make them any less frustrating. If you're a #jobseeker, what would you add to this? --- Enjoyed this post? HOW IS A FEDERAL RESUME DIFFERENT? Many make the mistake of believing "Eh, my regular resume should be okay to apply for this federal position." Well, "okay" doesn't usually cut it when you want to be the last one standing. So, how does the federal differ from its private sector cousin? ✨️ Federal resumes can be several pages long. ✨️ Federal resumes often require specific sections such as job series, grade, and security clearance information, which are not typically found in private sector resumes. ✨️ Most federal jobs require applications to be submitted through USAJOBS, where resumes must align with the platform's format and may require additional information like hours worked per week and supervisor contact details. ✨️ Veteran Preference: Veterans may have an advantage with additional points added to their application score. This preference must be clearly indicated on the resume, along with supporting documentation. There are a few others, but I think you get the point. The federal process rarely allows for an interview to let you expound on points just touched upon in the resume. You need to be thorough with the details right up front. #careers #nowhiring #jobseeker #personaldevelopment #personalbranding #7seconds2impress

Intentionally empowering women veterans to live beyond other people's expectations of their success after leaving the military | Employee Relations & Career Development Consultant | Speaker | Navy Vet
Are you tired of not hearing from recruiters once you submit your application? I know the feeling. I remember applying for several federal government jobs and never receiving an update. Get this - I separated from federal employment in 2021, have not applied to any federal jobs since my departure. I received an email last week with a notice of results. I applied for that job in 2018. Listen, sometimes, it's not your resume, but sometimes it is. So to be sure you do your part, you should dedicate 1 week to just working on your resume. Adding your most notable accomplishments, creating a flow that is easy to read and understand. New jobs will be posted come Jan 2024 and you should be ready to apply for those you are qualified for. I can help you do so! Just send an email to info@alishadbrown.com or send me a message from my website to get started! Visit www.alishadbrown.com to get started!

I received this InMail message this morning: "Hey, I’m looking for a recruiter for jobs in NYC and surrounding areas. Any advice?" 📢PS: The LinkedIn Search & Filter feature is underrated! Here's how I responded: Hi M******, I hope you are doing well. My advice is to use the search feature on Linkedin. 🔹Type in Recruiter 🔹Then click on People (this will show you all the Recruiters on LinkedIn) 🔹Use the filter option and narrow your search by the company you are interested in working for. 📌I recommend applying for a role you are interested in at the company before reaching out to a Recruiter! Once you apply for a position, you can use the template below to reach out to a Recruiter in that company. ⬇️⬇️I made a post about this template yesterday.⬇️⬇️ Hi __________, I hope you are doing well! I noticed that you work for XYZ company as a Recruiter, and I'm interested in joining your company. I recently applied for the XYZ role, requisition # XYZ. I understand that you may or may not be the recruiter for the role; if you are not, would you mind passing my information along to the Recruiter who is hiring for this role? Thank you for your time and consideration! Thanks, Your Name #socialsaturday #recruiter #jobseekers #greenbanner #hiring

Why are so many of the same jobs posted over and over and over again? What make it worse is there are sometimes hundreds of applicants. Do you mean to tell me that NO ONE who applied is qualified? Come on. It’s time to stop leaving these postings up and giving candidates false hope. And if companies are doing this to ‘collect’ resumes that they will most likely never look at…. Please just stop. #jobsearch #jobseekers

As someone with over 3 years of experience in recruitment, I've noticed a common trend: despite clear job postings with all the necessary details, around 80% of applicants still miss the mark. Despite seemingly straightforward, many job seekers miss the mark, with around 80% failing to apply correctly. In my recent job posts, I've made a concerted effort to include all necessary information upfront to minimize the mismatch. However, despite these efforts, I've noticed a trend where most resumes received via email fail to meet the specified requirements. Recognizing this gap, I've started proactively connecting with applicants to communicate that their qualifications don't align with our current needs. Here's a quick guide to help you stand out: #jobsearch #linkedinjob #network
