Animal testing has long been a controversial topic in the realm of scientific research. Thrilled to reflect on my scientific journey at Cambridge Veterinary School and CIMR (Cambridge Institute for Medical Research)! 🌐 During my time there, I honed the skills of isolating extracellular vesicles from urine using ultracentrifugation, quantifying them with nanoparticle tracking analysis, and employing PKH26 dye for confocal microscopy. Engaged in fascinating observations of the interaction between dyed urine extracellular vesicles and bacteria. Conducted antimicrobial assays with isolated urinary extracellular vesicles and E. coli bacteria, meticulously evaluating effects through colony counting methods. Explored the world of size exclusion chromatography as an alternative technique for extracellular vesicle isolation. 🧪🔬 #CambridgeJourney #ScientificExploration #MicroscopySkills

At the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic lab, lots of technology is used to get scientific results. We use centrifuges to spin samples of blood and separate the serum from the red blood cells. The Vitek machine helps identify bacteria species. We use computers to put numbers into the catalog, transfer, and translate test results. The systems for using chemicals to identify diseases and bacteria are very advanced.
