FERC Commissioner Christie recently noted: “The United States is heading for a reliability crisis…. Dispatchable generating resources are retiring far too quickly and in quantities that threaten our ability to keep the lights on.” Check out our recent article on trends and recent events leading the electric industry to re-examine the approach to resource adequacy. https://bit.ly/44ilo7F

A significant and important step in our transition to Zero emissions. As stated the Industry is going through significant changes. This is probably the biggest challenge our industry has ever faced whilst at the same time we are facing rising costs, strained supply chains, a lack of available staff and an uncertain plan on how to achieve the end goal. Then of course there is the small matter of where the energy is going to come from. For these reasons alone it is important for the industry to work collaboratively together and it’s so important to have these new partners as members. I would urge all of our industry partners to encourage anyone they know in the Energy and Infrastructure space to join.
We have established a new "group" and created a position on the BICs governing body - the Council - for a representative of the Energy and Infrastructure Group. This decision reflects the changing nature of the bus and coach industry including the implications of the transition to zero emission buses. These changes reflect the fact that Energy and Infrastructure providers are a critical partner in the transition and an important part of the wider industry. The new Group will include businesses providing energy and associated infrastructure and services to the bus and coach industry. Representatives of member organisations are eligible to nominate for a Council position at the upcoming Council election. The first meeting of the Group will be held on 29 October at the National Industry Conference.

The Indiana Commission (IURC) is holding its annual Contemporary Issues conference focused this year on Integrated Planning - that is, planning the generation, transmission, and distribution system holistically. AEP will be presenting their progress, which we originally supported (see paper here: https://lnkd.in/eZpGgXeY) Also, presentations by other utilities and regulators. We also are coming out with the results of our industry survey shortly where we polled utility leaders on how their planning approaches have evolved in recent years. https://lnkd.in/eYfJ43xX
