๐ก๐๐ง๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ก๐๐๐ฌ: Often we think of natural resources or nature as only existing in parks or outside of city limits, but this is not true. Your backyard, apartment complex, office building, synagogue, school, or wherever you go can support nature. Itโs all about the type of plants we surround ourselves with and a balance between people and wildlife. Columbia has amazing parks, streams, and forests to explore. These natural resources can be found throughout Columbia and not only do they provide recreational opportunities but also clean air and water, shade, mental health benefits, materials and so much more. Community conservation is all about bringing people closer to nature and improving the environment for people and wildlife through educational programming, habitat restoration, outreach, and strategic planning. 3M Hinkson/Flatbranch Wetland

Communities are made up of many parts. Some of which include people, locations, natural resources, knowledge, recreation, and beliefs. Various combinations of these, and other attributes, can drive the success of an overall community, making it greater than the sum of each of its parts on their own. #WamplerDevelopment #BuildingBetterCommunities #1+1>2 #Synergy

The demand for outdoor recreation has seen unprecedented growth in recent years, with record numbers of people getting outside. The BLMโs Public Lands Rule could be enormously influential in supporting conservation, expanding access, and preserving outdoor recreation values on our public lands. A new report from CAP highlights opportunities to protect BLM lands to expand outdoor recreation access: https://lnkd.in/dgbRfpyE

If you agree that "The Biden administration can capitalize on this outdoor recreation opportunity through near-term policy action, including by finalizing a strong BLM Public Lands Rule, acting on ripe community-led conservation proposals, finalizing regulations limiting oil and gas conflicts, investing in recreation infrastructure and management, and tackling other barriers to equitable nature access," there is no better way to make this happen than to invest in the work of the Conservation Lands Foundation!
Outdoor recreation is at an all-time high, resulting in overcrowding, trail damage, and diminished visitor experiences. A new report by the Center for American Progress outlines how millions of acres of public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management can be the solution to expand opportunities for all people to enjoy nature. By protecting the landscapes beyond and between national parks, President Biden can safeguard outdoor recreational pursuits for current and future generations. #ActNowForPublicLands https://lnkd.in/dgbRfpyE

Former Director British intelligence Agencies, MI5 & MI6. Now weaving espionage into bestselling fiction.
A LAUGHABLE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE LINK The Wildlife and Countryside Link tell an all-party parliamentary group that the countryside dwellers are influenced by #racist #colonial legacies. When asked about this a west country farmer was so puzzled he thought they were talking about knotweed. No, it wasnโt knotweed the WCL was talking about. In fact, its broad statement boils down to their view that green spaces dominated by white people can prevent people from #ethnic minority backgrounds enjoying nature. Colonialism, they say, is embedded into the design and management of green spaces. It is more than alarming, but not surprising, that the WCL doesnโt know the difference between a green space and the #countryside. Lest there be any doubt, a #greenspace is an area for recreation in an urban area whereas countryside is land outside an urban areas . Countryside dwellers are naturally concerned with and influenced by the forces of nature. They deal with life and death far more closely than urban dwellers. The cycle of the seasons is more dramatic, as too is the business of agriculture. Country dwellers are far too busy communing or contending with nature to spend time being deliberately unwelcoming to anyone including ethnic minorities. Of course, country dwellers are likely to call unruly motorists or dog walkers โthem bloody foreigners" but the object of their complaint is as likely to come from #Macclesfield as #Mombasa. Moreover, neighbours look after each other in villages, not only because country dwellers are on the whole naturally friendly but they need to be. Things can go suddenly and often dangerously wrong and emergency services are not easily to hand. The idea of village dwellers denying ethnic minorities their friendship or help is laughable. But, largely because life in the countryside is lived in this way, any newcomer is looked at closely. Will they fit in? Do they understand the cycle of nature? Will they be on hand in an emergency? Will they respect the country code โ close gates, keep dogs under control, take home their litter. This applies to everyone, of whatever ethnic background or creed. There can be no excuse for ethnic minorities being denied, for whatever reason, access to green spaces in urban areas. But donโt, WCL, put countryside dwellers in the same pot. To denigrate them as racist and colonial reveals the same ignorance and laziness as lies behind non-platforming or cancelling. #countryside #nature #landscape #countrylife
