For nonprofits, your Talent Acquisition strategy needs to be more than a “post and pray” approach to recruiting top talent. Without a Talent Acquisition strategy, your recruiting efforts will produce limited results that will impede your mission's success. You need a framework for attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent and this requires creating a talent plan that starts at the executive level. Join us for a webinar on November 15th to learn Why Talent Acquisition Strategy isn't Recruiting. Sharing Willow Hill's updated website with all reports, articles and AMAs (finally!) in one place. Most popular topics include: * Compensation and hiring trends * Navigating a job search (high impact outreach, diligence, resignations, counters, comp) * LP insights on best (and worst) practices * Transitioning to a leadership role * Interview strategies for hiring managers Amazingly, my Wim Hof retreat experience blew all the others out of the water 😄 Feedback and AMA topic ideas are always welcome and appreciated. On deck: * LP sourced best practices for keeping in touch between fundraises * 2024 hiring trends update #talentacquisition #capitalformation #fundraising #jobsearch #alternativeinvestments https://lnkd.in/eGzgnJP

Diverse Placements As seen in Hunt Scanlon Media's recently released 'Non-Profit Recruiting Executive Search Review' Newsletter, the current challenges non-profits are facing aren’t all that different from the past. “Over the past two years, demand for executive searches across the non-profit sector has increased in volume,” said Ericka Miller, president and CEO of Isaacson, Miller. “While we’re not seeing the intensity of unexpected #leadership change that we experienced in 2021 and 2022, 2023 continues to be a strong year for executive search activity across the mission-driven sector. Primary growth drivers include increased demand for leaders who can scale organizations and institutions, a rising call for equitable, #diverse, and #inclusive leadership that effectively engages internal and external communities, a heightened focus on leadership in #healthcare and academic medicine to address our most pressing public health challenges, and an increase in demand for inaugural leaders at STEM organizations focused on innovation.” To download the full newsletter, please visit: https://lnkd.in/eck_TgF

A Fresh Perspective on Recruiting for Non-profit Organizations and Associations As seen in Hunt Scanlon Media's recently released 'Non-Profit Recruiting Executive Search Review' Newsletter, James Zaniello, president and founder of Vetted Solutions recently joined Hunt Scanlon Media to share his firsthand perspective on the current state of #recruiting for #nonprofit organizations and what trends his firm is seeing in this active sector. According to Mr. Zaniello, "A growing demand for #interim leadership is fueling non-profit and association recruitment. In fact, interim positions represent roughly 20 percent of Vetted Solutions’ current work in this sector. Today’s interim executives do more than bridge the gap between the departure of one CEO and the #hiring of the next. Their special expertise can make a lasting and positive contribution in a multitude of ways. For example, an interim CEO could be hired to rework an organization’s business model or facilitate a complex merger in advance of the next CEO’s arrival. Completing this work in advance builds a strong foundation from which the new hire can shape the organization’s future." To download the full newsletter, please visit: https://lnkd.in/eck_TgF

I equip nonprofits to scale their structures and systems so that they can fulfill their mission and vision | facilitate difficult conversations | share best practices for operational frameworks and strategic planning
Presenting Lightbulb Moments! Insights from 30 years in the nonprofit sector. ❌ In many instances, as board members approach the end of their terms… the process of identifying their successors often entails reaching out to acquaintances who may be willing to step into the role (sometimes arm twisting is involved). 💡 The truth is... Recruiting new board members demands significant time, a clear understanding of organizational needs, and defined board roles. Developing an effective board necessitates a thorough vetting process to attract committed and viable candidates. Allow me to pose several critical questions to assess your organization’s trajectory… ❓ Have you established a nominating committee responsible for vetting potential board members? ❓ Do you utilize a board matrix to identify nominees who can diversify the board and address organizational gaps effectively? ❓ Are prospective board members subjected to formal interviews? ❓ Have you outlined clear job descriptions for each board position? ❓ Does the potential board member embody a deep commitment to your vision, mission, and community? ❓ Is there a genuine eagerness to continually learn about your nonprofit sector and programs? ❓ Are they prepared to dedicate 4 to 6 hours monthly to board duties? ❓ Is there a structured onboarding process and orientation for new board members? ❓ Do your board members annually sign a letter of intent? ❓ Are board members actively chairing committees? ❓ Is there an evaluation process with defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assessing board performance? ❓ Does your Executive Director undergo annual reviews? ❓ Do you organize an annual retreat for the board to regroup and rejuvenate? I genuinely believe most board members are inherently driven to contribute meaningfully. They seek to apply their skills, expertise, and networks to advance the organization’s mission. One big step toward a high-functioning board would be to establish a tone, model expectations, and define clear standards for engagement. It is crucial to remember that nonprofits are a business. Your profits just happen to go towards advancing your mission and expanding your organization's social impact. Fortunately, many board members hail from professional backgrounds and possess the acumen to establish best practices in nonprofit governance. Embarking on the journey of implementing robust board practices early on will not only enhance comfort but also significantly bolster your recruiting efforts! ✨ I would love to hear additional thoughts from leaders or board members within the nonprofit sector. #connectingcommunitiesconsulting #structureandsystemoptimization #boardengagement #boardrecruitment #nonprofitconsultant

Ever notice how employers often ask, "How do you handle a fast-moving environment?" only to have their hiring process stretch out over three months? 🤔 It's a bit ironic, isn't it? The reality is that adaptability and agility are essential, not just for the role but for the hiring process itself. A streamlined hiring process speaks volumes about an organization's efficiency and respect for candidates' time. Let's aim to make every stage of our professional interactions as dynamic and responsive as the environments we claim to thrive in. #JobSearch #HiringProcess #Efficiency #ProfessionalGrowth #NonProfits
