Excellent presentation of BEPA - Batteries European Partnership Association by Bozorg Khanbaei at the Joint IPCEI event on Batteries in Bologna. Continuous and ambitious innovation in battery technology (all across the value chain) is very much needed if we want to accelerate electrification of mobility. If you are looking for a blueprint outlining the key technological challenges ahead and where innovation funding & further financing should flow, I recommend reading the new Strategic Agenda for Research & Innovation (SRIA) released by BEPA - Batteries European Partnership Association. Built collectively with the European battery (innovation) ecosystem, our SRIA aims among others at supporting the roll-out of the European batteries partnership called BATT4EU (with up to 925 million euro funding in Horizon Europe). BATT4EU, which is championed by Ms Rosalinde van der Vlies at the EU Commission’s DG RTD, falls under the innovation pillar of the European Battery Alliance which was created under the constant leadership of EU Commission’s VP Maroš Šefčovič Our SRIA is available here ➡ https://lnkd.in/eHS-ByfV and we will present it via a free webinar on March 20th at 10 AM ➡ https://lnkd.in/en6satGg as a side event of the EU’s R&I days.

Battery is immediately misunderstood by many to mean a lithium ion battery or its derivative. Beyond Li ion also seems to focus mainly on Na ion battery or some may revert back to lead acid batteries. We need to emphasise REDOX FLOW BATTERIES (RFBS) as the main contender for stationary energy storage. EU Commission should recognise and fund this elegant technology as it can solve major storage problems in future and for some chemistries, also support the EU Green Deal. It is high time that people realise that there is something beyond Li ion batteries and it is known as the RFB
🔋 Join Flow Batteries Europe in supporting European batteries R&I! Flow Batteries Europe is proud to share the co-signed open letter urging for continued investment in battery research and innovation under the Horizon Europe programme. We urge the European Commission to champion continued investment in battery research and innovation under the BATT4EU Partnership, fortifying Europe's global leadership in battery technologies and contributing significantly to our green transition. Join us in spreading and sharing this message! 🔋 🌱👇 BEPA - Batteries European Partnership Association

At Royal Roos / Royal3D, we recognize the imperative of fostering strong connections within our industry, which is why we extend our gratitude to Maritime Delta and Rotterdam Maritime Board for their commitment to uniting the maritime sector. The ‘Maritiem Innovatie Diner’ held on April 18 was a testament of this collaboration, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and visionaries at the heart of Rotterdam's innovation and educational hub. During this evening hosted by VSTEP and Royal Roos, including Royal3D & UniBallast, over 160 maritime industry stakeholders engaged in meaningful discussions related to the ‘Nationale Sectoragenda Maritieme Maakindustrie’. It was inspiring to participate in dialogues regarding sustainable shipping, talent acquisition, and circularity – all central themes that resonate with our shared goals. Since 2012 Maritime Delta has been instrumental in fortifying the Maritime cluster through strategic partnerships with businesses, governmental bodies, academic institutions, and trade organizations. Together, we are furthering the execution of the Regional Maritime Agenda by synchronizing efforts and spearheading activities centered on innovation and human capital development. We had the opportunity to voice our perspective on how even a sustainable sector like offshore can push the envelope towards greater sustainability. Amidst an atmosphere where open conversations led by industry stakeholders created pathways for action and progress. The outcomes of these conversations will shape the practical implementation of our collective agenda. Once again, we thank Maritime Delta and Rotterdam Maritime Board for organizing this meaningful event, reinforcing our commitment to continuous improvement and collective success within the maritime landscape. #Maritime #Delta #Innovation #Rotterdam #Board #Offshore #Sustainability

Today I addressed an important event on Advanced Materials happening in Bergamo, Italy. Here are a few thoughts I’d like to share with you. ❗ Advanced Materials are of strategic importance for Europe (think about the goals of green and digital transitions and Europe's competitiveness and sovereignty). Given the intensifying global competition we need to act fast. 🎡 The Commission Communication: “Advanced Materials for Industrial Leadership” points to a fragmentation of R&I programmes and call for a better coordination between the Commission and EU countries. COMING SOON - To follow up on this we will create a Technology Council for Advanced Materials to align priorities across Europe and create synergies between EU and national programmes. We will soon publish a call for applications in this regard. 💶 To leverage public funding and mobilise private investments, we are currently setting up the new partnership ‘Innovative Advanced Materials for Europe – IAM4EU’. 💪 In a strong, competitive materials ecosystem innovation will arrive faster to market and advanced materials are designed according to industrial needs. 🤝 Working together will build Europe's industrial leadership in advanced materials. 👉 https://europa.eu/!NbNVy8

Returning from Munich where we yesterday hosted an EMESA strategy workshop with our senior team and experts. What an energy and spark! Summarizing all our discussions and priorities, the amazing window view from my flight made me think: is it possible for CEOs and leaders to advance and find a path above the clouds and uncertainty we currently experience? And more importantly, what does it take? Judging from my flight experience - here is the answer: 1. Adaptable strategy and clear procedures (also when slot time or luggage handling crew is missing) 2. A clear purpose and direction to follow 3. Patience and persistence, also in turbulent times
