There is an old zen story A client and a planner decide to have a race around the world. The client goes to (and through) Every dealer Every excel sheet Every GRP Every PDO every (insert your favorite marketing term here) The planner just speaks to a few consumers. The client is incensed when they hear this. “I did all this work and you just spoke to a few consumers! “ But the planner calmly replies - You went around your world. And I went around mine. Why do we have to choose one or the other? By making strategy goal oriented and not gaze oriented, we lose the ability to see multiple perspectives Maybe that hinders us, rather than helping us.
