I had the pleasure of speaking at The Economist Impact Countdown to COP event this week, about the relationship between sustainability and financial performance. It was a lively discussion, and it was clear that there is a growing understanding among businesses that sustainability is not just a good thing to do, but it's also good for business. A key discussion point from my perspective is that being good at sustainability is not in conflict with good financial performance, it supports it. Sustainable companies are more likely to be innovative and efficient and to have strong relationships with their customers, employees, and suppliers. Additionally, sustainable companies are better positioned to manage risks and opportunities related to climate change and other environmental and social challenges. It is not only the right thing to do from an ethical perspective, but it also makes business sense. Being at the forefront of sustainability is also a competitive advantage as customers increasingly are demanding sustainable solutions. Also, both current and potential employees rather work for companies who take sustainability seriously. At SKF, sustainability is embedded in our strategy and involves everyone in the company. Sustainability as part of everything we do – in our operations, offers and in our purpose. The discussion underlined my belief that SKF and other companies can make a real difference by being sustainable. I was grateful to have the opportunity to speak at this event and to learn from my fellow panellists, Dawn Allen, Anders Boyer and Samy Zekhout. While we represented a diverse range of industries, it was inspiring to see how aligned we all are on the importance of sustainability. I encourage all businesses to think about how they can integrate sustainability into their business strategy. It's not just the right thing to do, but it's also good for your bottom line and the world.
do most companies show the effect of sustainabality on their bottom line?
