The Brain Train is a vision for a first-of-its-kind high-capacity travel network that will drive innovation and collaboration throughout the Midwest and push Chicago’s most impactful and ambitious ventures forward. 🚄🏙️ CHIP is Amtrak’s top National Network priority. It will provide faster, safer, and more reliable service to support the Midwest’s growing ridership. CHIP will transform regional and long distance passenger rail service, connect job centers, reduce our carbon footprint and more. Amtrak and its partners’ $1.1 billion Federal/ State Partnership grant application is supported by a broad coalition of regional government and industry leaders including labor, business, and environmental groups. In the construction industry, new collaboration models are emerging for complex projects. The traditional Joint Venture (ARGE) model, which has proven successful in the past, is evolving into an Alliance model with increased responsibilities, especially for steering collective goal achievement. In addition, the industry faces the challenge of establishing a new production facility along with professional planning, execution, and commissioning processes for each construction site in the shortest possible time. All of this, often with new Alliance partners. Therefore, it is essential to take a step aside at regular intervals and systematically create innovative solutions that the project team needs to move on to the next phase and achieve the goals. This happened with the project team of the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group for the Cottbus Alliance Project with Deutsche Bahn. Today, the Chicago Hub Improvement Program (CHIP), was publicly announced at South Loop's South Gate Market. I was honored to attend today and felt a little nostalgic since I used to live not far from there. 🚄🏙️ This initiative brings together a powerful coalition, including esteemed leaders from various levels of government: IDOT Secretary Omer Osman, Gov. JB Pritzker, Senator Richard Durbin and Senator Tammy Duckworth, Representative Mike Quigley, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and transportation and business officials from Amtrak, Metra Commuter Rail, Rheaply, P33 Chicago, and World Business Chicago. The traffic on the express ways has been a topic of conversation for months now. By establishing a direct route from O'Hare to the city, that traffic congestion can be resolved along with the bottlenecking that happens on tracks and in the station, because of more efficient and sustainable transportation options. This upgrade is also vital to Chicago's local economy to bolster shipping, logistics, and to generate well-paying job opportunities for residents. 🌟✈️ All that's left is to get the US Congress to fully fund the Federal Railroad Administration in the 2024 federal budget, allowing transformative programs like CHIP to thrive and build a more prosperous region with increased freedom to travel for all. 

The I-40 TradePort Corridor Coalition advances public and private partnerships, and launches a system website. The first phase of the transcontinental I-40 TradePort Corridor system has made a range of advances in site identification, capital infrastructure planning, private partner development, and with partners for a spectrum of investment propositions to the federal government. Capitalizing on the recent designation of the Corridor as a Regional Infrastructure Accelerator by the US Department of Transportation, three federal investments are proposed, including investments in clean energy power and transportation infrastructure, roads and industrial infrastructure, and Port-to-TradePort hub intelligent cargo technology infrastructure. GLDPartners and the Corridor are working with truck OEMs, tech companies, shippers and research institutions on the deployment of next-generation technologies to move cargo to and within the TradePort complexes. By systems integration and the introduction of applied technologies, the objective is to produce significant cost and time efficiencies to shippers. We are excited to work with globally leading transportation research institutions such as UC Berkeley PATH on this. Other federal investment propositions are envisioned over the next 24 months. Along with private investment, these projects would support the early stages of development of TradePort hubs and Truck Mobility Complexes stretching from the Port of Los Angeles to Kingman, Arizona, Winslow, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico. To support a national end-to-end supply chain system, there are plans later to extend the TradePort system eastward through Texas and Oklahoma, and into Midwest and Mid-South regions. Private participation is the key to the development of the TradePort system and GLDPartners has created a TradePort Consortium which is comprised of private companies that share an interest in developing an integrated state of the art clean energy, logistics and industrial infrastructure system. The Consortium is comprised of large shippers, truck and rail interests, clean energy players and risk capital investors. Not sure what to expect this year with all the looming economic uncertainty?
