🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ At Wärtsilä's recent Pride panel, I had the privilege to discuss one of my favorite topics: the importance of listening to minority voices and highlighting the differences in experiences between majority and minority employees. Even if up to 85% or even 90% of employees in an organization would report that they can openly share their views and concerns or be themselves at work, it doesn’t tell enough about inclusion. The reality for minority employees is often very different. When we ask all employees these questions without considering identity, the unique challenges faced by some employees remain unseen. In the video, Tiia Leino shares how a senior leader approached her, expressing their uncertainty about DEI, saying they didn’t really know what it was about or what they should do. Tiia’s response is wonderfully encouraging and very much to the point! She says that just asking those questions is a great starting point. Similarly, by asking all employees—both majority and minority—about their experiences, is a great starting point for organizations. The answers will lead to a more nuanced understanding of inclusion, and help guide future actions. I'm proud that Includia Leadership now, and throughout November 2024, offers a simple way for organizations to collect data around inclusion with a focus on minority identities. In the State of Inclusion 2024 survey, we ask respondents whether they identify with an ethnic or racialized minority, a sexual minority, a gender minority, a language minority, a religious minority, or a neurominority. Participating in our study provides companies with insights into their own state of inclusion and benchmark data against other companies in Finland. I’m thrilled to be able to continue discussing this topic, and to work together with so many dedicated organizations and individuals striving for a truly inclusive workplace for everyone. Thank you Wärtsilä for the invitation 🙏 🩵💗🤍💗🩵 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #Pride #Wärtsilä #inclusion #minorityvoices

#IWD2024 #countherin What an honour it was to hear the lived experience of Julia Banks at our Melbourne office this week and we also heard from employees through our IWD activations. Some take aways I'd like to share: 1) Use your personal and professional power to break the system. Patriarchy is not just for men to break down. We all have a role to play in breaking the system (regardless of gender identity) 2) Be mindful of interrupting women. Stats tell us it happens a lot more to women than it does to men. 3) Male allies are so important. Many males feel left out when it comes to DEI initiatives if they don't connect with a particular DEI focus area. Yet data tells us many males want to spend more time with their families and they may feel a load placed on them because of the system. Male allies can help support women and they can be a voice for the population of men that want to take that parental leave or have that flexibility. Join your equality and families networks! We all have a role to play in inclusion and I'm proud to work for AGL where we are banding together with the Champions of Change Energy Group to break the system and help count her in.
Today, on International Women’s Day, we want to recognise all the women and men who work across our operational sites and corporate offices for helping us to accelerate progress toward a more gender equal AGL. A diverse workforce will also help to create a more inclusive energy future which has important benefits for our customers and communities in which we operate. We continue to listen and learn from each other every day. Watch some of the progress we’ve made over the past 12 months through our leadership development programs, inclusive trainings and partnerships. #IWD24 #CountHerIn #InvestInWoman #AccelerateProgress UN Women Australia Champions of Change Coalition

With #InternationalWomensDay tomorrow, we're continuing to celebrate some of the inspiring female figures at K2. We spoke to Momo Yamada, our Director of People Operations in Japan, to ask her about achieving success as a female leader and her advice to other women. Here's what she had to say: "Individual strength is crucial advice for women in the workforce, as opposed to conforming to predetermined leadership styles. This allows for authenticity and focus on achieving results. Organizations like K2 provide valuable role models and support systems for overcoming these obstacles. Female leaders within K2 serve as inspirations, guiding personal and professional growth, with the goal of nurturing future leaders within the organization."
