For companies whose employees move around the world, environmentally conscious travel is a major focus. Last week we brought together sustainability experts from the travel sector and academia, along with some of our customers at the Navan Future Forum, in Berlin for the first in a series of events aimed at tackling challenges facing our industry. Key takeaways from the panel discussions: 💼 Travel is a basic need and critical to doing business. It should be accessible, while reducing its environmental impact. We need to cultivate a stronger mind shift and embrace sustainability regulations in order for the industry to make real progress. 📊 It’s about data. Measures that suppliers and companies undertake in this area need to be backed up by data based on universal reporting standards and robust methodologies. 🌐 Good use of technology is a prerequisite. The complexities involved in gaining the required level of visibility, and then control, over environmental reporting across different forms of travel and accommodation are wide and varied. Use of technology to assimilate the information is key. Thank you to our speakers — Lubomila Jordanova, Ivor van Dartel, Dr. Micha Schildmann, Marcus Jansa, Michael Nau, and Dr. Martin Balas — for sharing their expertise and to our delegates for joining in the discussion.
