The FCC is putting increased scrutiny on third-party telecommunications certification bodies (TCBs) and RF test labs that may be controlled by foreign hostile governments. The Commission uses the labs to certify equipment before being sold in the U.S. market. In its recent monthly agenda meeting, it proposed ownership limits on TCBs and labs by companies on an earlier developed “Covered List.” The proposals have unanimous FCC support. https://lnkd.in/eannZN-T

Did you know that all call flow diagrams in the RAN Stage 2 specification (38.300) can be edited? When transitioning from LTE/4G to NR/5G, as Stage 2 rapporteur, I realized we needed a better tool for capturing signaling diagrams in 3GPP. I came across a free tool recommended by Henning Wiemann : MSC-Generator. I promoted it to the RAN2 secretary, Juha Korhonen, who then promoted it to MCC, and the rest is history. https://lnkd.in/gvRM3x8W

UE Capability Signaling Limitation and 3GPP Proposed Solution 🔵 Issue Background: In the early phase of Carrier Aggregation, only 2CC CA was supported, and the supported band combination was simple. However, as higher carrier aggregation (i.e., 3CC CA, 4CC CA, 5CC CA) is supported, and more band combinations are introduced, the size of the UE Capability Information message explodes. 🔵 Limitation: The maximum supported size of a PDCP SDU/PDU is 8188 octets; accordingly, some of the UE Capability information will be missed if the UE Capability information message exceeds 8188 octets. 🔵 3GPP Solution: The network can request the UE to send additional UE capability information or can force the UE to send the only capability information necessary to the current Network. *Study Sources added in the comments #nr #5g #4g #4glte

In 3G Network RRC has three main states: IDLE, DCH (dedicated channel), and FACH (forward access channel) states. Data can only be transmitted in DCH and FACH states. However UE is in FACH state, transmission uses the shared channel. When it is in DCH state, transmission uses the dedicated channel, which has a higher speed and power consumption than the shared channel. #3g #telecommunications #rfengineering

Is SRS more important than DMRS in 5G ? Both SRS and DMRS are essential in 5G uplink transmissions. SRS is used to help the base station (BS) to obtain channel state information (CSI) of different users over the whole bandwidth. DMRS on the other hand is used to estimate a physical channel containing user data on only a certain part of the bandwidth. #5g #5gnr #3gpp #5gnetwork
