Happy to be nominated for an Antitrust Writing Award 2024, the field’s largest awards for written thought (outside court :)🏆 Amidst all hype and speculation surrounding AI in 2023, my London colleague Luke Streatfeild and I focused on economic realities: the value chain of generative AI, emerging business models and the main barriers to entry from data curation to deployment.💡 Our goal? To raise awareness for the risks of high concentration across the AI ecosystem and the need for early regulatory monitoring, which is now starting in several countries. The 9-page deep dive, only weeks after the release of ChatGPT, became the world’s most downloaded antitrust business article on SSRN in 2023. 📈 If you found our article helpful, your one-click vote could make all the difference, as there will be a Readers’ Choice Award for each sub-category. https://lnkd.in/eDKgydXk While at it, also get inspired from the other nominated articles of colleagues around the globe. Lots of valuable insights. #AWA2024 #AntitrustWritingAward #GenerativeAI #AIAct

OpenAI made a biiiiig announcement today, and I'm not talking about the GPT Store. You can now sign up for ChatGPT Team ($25/user), which unlike ChatGPT Plus, does NOT train models on your conversations or business data. Privacy concerns have been one of biggest barriers to adopting generative AI. ChatGPT Team should allow way more companies to use ChatGPT in workflows that handle sensitive information, without having to build something custom or shell out $100K for ChatGPT Enterprise. P.S. They also announced the GPT Store today, but honestly, I'm more excited about the team plans. (Edited: Team privacy terms are not exactly the same as Enterprise)

This article discusses some good ideas for working with analyses generated by both humans and AI agents. As long as there are humans in the loop, working with data and analyses generated by human and AI agents will remain a critically valuable skill set — in particular, navigating the minefields of cognitive biases while working with data. Below are some high level points from the article: Decide the go/no-go criteria before seeing the data. Have all the decision makers document their opinion before sharing with each other. Discuss the “mediating judgements” Document the decision rationale Set your “kill criteria”

In my view, all tax-favored organizations should be held to a higher standard of financial reporting so that taxpayers can readily see not only the tax expenditures associated with them but also the results (outcomes) being produced. In my chat with ChatGPT, it declines to disclose the tax expenditures implicitly allocated to OpenAI. However, its conclusion generally supports my point of view: "Overall, embracing open, standard, machine-readable formats for financial reporting in the AI/ML sector can contribute to transparency, efficiency, and innovation, ultimately benefiting stakeholders and the broader ecosystem." https://lnkd.in/eseFJ6cq
