This project will focus on supporting single mothers and their young school children. The aim is to provide the children with basic educational materials in order to properly participate in their classes and ensure they don’t miss school due to familial economic reasons. During this project, we expect to support a number of 259 students.  The women we work with for this project, have the sole responsibility for their children’s education, which can be incredibly challenging. A growing rate of school drop-outs within the community results in high crime rates which put security at stake.  Collectively, we plan on finding a solution for the long-term problems. However, for now, we can help by taking on a part of the single mother's financial load. In South Africa only 80 % of 10 year olds can not read for meaning. The challenges start as early as Pre School (Early Childhood Development) with unequipped day care centres, lack of resources, and then this continues into school.
