Farmer & Designer

The peaches are ripening up, and for my local friends, the first ones will be available at the farm stand this weekend. Trees are such a testament to long time. They do not care about quarterly earning cycles, sprints or other such artificial temporal constructs. They take years to produce. Years of watering, fertilizing, pruning and careful attention. The payoff is not only monetary. Trees guide humans into a different temporal awareness, for they can outlive us and welcome us off the hedonic treadmill into a slower and gentler cycle of life itself.
