🌈 Our LGBTQ+ Mental Health in the Workplace Survey 2024 Report is now published and free to download in the link below! 🌈 myGwork - LGBTQ+ Business Community hired me to carry out this survey back in April, collecting data from over 1,000 LGBTQ+ professionals from 65 different countries around the world during #mentalhealthawarenessmonth followed by analysis and report writing throughout #pridemonth. Sadly but not surprisingly the survey uncovered some concerning findings about the wellbeing, mental health, and safety concerns of the respondents. In our report we highlight the need for workplaces to step up and offer more support and training on both mental health and LGBTQ+ inclusion and awareness, as the global LGBTQ+ population are in dire need of it. Here are three of the most upsetting findings. • Almost half (45.6%) of the respondents reported currently being in severe psychological distress. • Only 13.9% of the respondents felt safe to be completely their authentic selves ‘in society in general’. • Almost half (44.6%) of the respondents also reported being diagnosed with depression at some point in their lives. These statistics speak for themselves – mental health in our community is sadly not improving. We need to do more to address the stigma, discrimination, and safety concerns far too many in our community still experience on a daily basis. #mentalhealthintheworkplace #mentalhealth #lgbtq #lgbtqmentalhealth #wellbeing #discrimination #mentalhealthtraining #equitydiversityinclusion #EDI #DEI #minoritystress #survey #surveyreport #lgbtqsurvey A special thank you to Pepi Sappal, it was a pleasure working with you on this project.

A new study from myGwork - LGBTQ+ Business Community found that: ❗️ Only 13.7% of #LGBTQ+ professionals felt they could completely be their authentic selves "in society in general." 🌟 BUT... Many LGBTQ+ professionals are ‘out and proud’ at work, more than half (58%) said they were open about their sexual orientation to everyone or most people at work. 🍃 Managers can benefit from training to support LGBTQ+ and all staff experiencing mental health challenges. 39.2% of LGBTQ+ professionals had talked to their line manager about a personal mental health concern in the workplace, but just under half (43.8%) of those who had done so felt it had been managed adequately or poorly.
