Today we would like to introduce you to a person who can brighten any day with her radiant energy: This is Dorota, our hotel's Executive Housekeeping Manager. With us since February 2024, Dorota has followed an inspiring and unique career path, always following her heart and the motto: "Never say never. Always plan with some extra time". Born and raised in Poland, she holds two master's degrees - one in teaching and the other in real estate management. While teaching has always been close to her heart, she worked for several years in the administration of a real estate company. After a fateful period and some rethinking, she had had enough of the "typical office job" as she puts it, and decided to take some time off. However, for someone like Dorota, "time off" is not a vacation - she wanted to get back to the basics of working with her hands, to have a new challenge in life. With an open mind, she went to Freiburg to work in the hospitality industry with a personal deadline of two months. While cleaning hotel rooms and enjoying the immediate satisfaction that this job gave her, she realized that she had found her true passion in housekeeping and wanted to stay in Germany permanently. A huge fan of the Bavarian Alps and the Oktoberfest, she moved to Munich where, in just 6 years, she progressed from cleaning public areas of the hotel to Housekeeping Assistant and finally to Executive Housekeeping Manager. Although she was not actively looking for a new job, Dorota says that when she walked into our hotel for the first time, she immediately knew "this is where I belong," and as always, she listened to her heart. Since then, she has shaped the housekeeping team with her relentless drive, teaching skills and people-oriented approach to leadership. Her secret: Laugh a lot together. Outside of work, she enjoys challenging herself too: In her freetime, she likes to play tennis or read - an incredible 150 to 200 books a year! #AssociateAppreciationWeek #AAW #recap Today, we take a moment to #reflect on Associate Appreciation Week 2024 with shared laughter and many beautiful, unifying team #memories. While #AAW is celebrated annually at Marriott properties around the world, this year our Executive Team and their department heads went above and beyond in new and fun ways to thank all associates for their daily dedication, positive attitude and collaboration. Each day was filled with surprising mottos and matching activities to make it extra special and engaging. From an indulgent breakfast with delicacies like freshly made pancakes, to an exciting Middle Eastern themed day, to piñatas and grilled delicacies in the afternoon, the week got off to a great start. On Wednesday, in conjunction with a movie night in an exclusively booked movie theater together with other Marriott Business Council South Germany properties, all activations were also centered around the theme of cinema. The next day, things got sporty with the "Marriott Olympic Games", which consisted of the following creative disciplines: Operations Triathlon, Admin 100 Meters and General Manager Marathon. The winners were celebrated with medals and a variety of delicious snacks. Finally, the week ended with a "Friday Full of Good Vibes" with Caribbean decorations, original Jamaican soul food and a sundowner event with Jamaican Punch & Mojitos. It's Safety Awareness Month! At Marriott International, safety isn't just another checklist item; it's a daily commitment to making all associates feel safe and cultivating awareness and confidence in challenging circumstances. That is why throughout the month of April, we are focusing on enhancing safety protocols and holistic crisis management strategies throughout our hotel. As part of these initiatives, we've conducted a series of comprehensive training sessions covering essential topics such as fire life safety, crisis management and on-site security operations. This included conducting a "tabletop" exercise to familiarize our crisis management & response teams with incident, emergency and crisis plans. The exercise served several purposes, including role-playing scenarios, refining operational procedures, identifying areas for improvement, and psychological preparation. Why did we choose this interactive approach? Because when it comes to safety, there's no room for compromise. #GlobalEarthHour #EMEAServeOurWorld 🕣 Today from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM Today's post is not just a nice piece of content, it is an issue that is very close to our hearts. For us, Global Earth Hour is more than just turning off the lights for one hour on a single day of the year – it aligns with Marriott International's deeply rooted vision of taking continuous responsibility for our environment. As such, Global Earth Hour is a powerful symbol of the holistic approach of our company to preserve this planet, underscoring our daily endeavors to pull together in achieving our climate goals. To make these efforts tangible, we turned to the key drivers of our actions – the engineering team. We asked Chief Engineer Willi to identify the key conservation and efficiency measures in 2023 that resulted in an impressive 4.14% reduction in gas and 4% reduction in electricity. Here is a brief excerpt: First, traditional lighting fixtures were replaced with energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the facility. They either turn off completely or dim to 4 watts after 2 to 3 minutes. This is a significant improvement from 2022, when the fluorescents still used 58 watts. Next, thermostats were strategically used to optimize energy use by dynamically turning on and off room air conditioning based on when guests check in and out. Looking ahead, the team is also optimizing the hotel's ventilation systems to save even more energy. Finally, we are also supporting Earth Hour with a special offering for our guests. Tonight, The Grapeful Vinothek will be transformed into a sea of candles for a special Candlelight Dinner. With its local food & beverage concept and focus on sustainable supply chains, it is the perfect venue for the occasion. What an important day and what an important issue to raise awareness about!

Last week, our Human Resources Specialist Katharina had the pleasure of attending HOGA-Connect, a career fair organized by HOGAPAGE in cooperation with the Hotelfachschule Bad Wörishofen. She didn't go alone - together with 3 esteemed colleagues from the München Marriott Hotel City West, it was a real Marriott Power Team that manned a stand with lots of passion and brand giveaways, sharing insights from their workplace and the various career paths available. In addition to the 30 business students and 80 vocational students from the Hotelfachschule Bad Wörishofen, they also welcomed students from other schools, as well as anyone who heard about the fair through social media and cooperation with job centers. All in all, HOGA-Connect lived up to its name, providing an excellent platform to connect and showcase our commitment to supporting career development in the hospitality industry. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we are pleased to introduce you to some of the fantastic women behind and in front of the scenes at the Munich Marriott Hotel. 🚀 There are so many different roles and stories to tell: Event Coordinator Andrea is currently mentoring our very talented apprentice Mariam, forming a power duo that rocks every event. At the front desk, we are immensely fortunate to have Marta, our colleague from Italy, who is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for our guests and literally brings the Mediterranean sun to our Munich hotel. A true power woman is also our purchasing manager Asja, who navigates a typically male-dominated department with ease, empathy and a lot of humor. When Nadine is in the Munich sales office at our property, it sometimes gets really loud because the bell rings every time a new contract is signed. Although she only works part time because she is a working student, she is an absolute sales professional. The lady who probably works with the most men on a daily basis is our dear Stella, the Engineering assistant. Not only does she handle important paperwork, orders and more, but she is also the calming influence in the department. Finally, there are our amazing HR ladies, Katharina and Andrea. With their warmth and dedication, they create a motivating environment that welcomes all and empowers the other women of the Munich Marriott Hotel every day.
