Powering the big bird! The A380 is firm favorite among travelers, and the largest passenger aircraft worldwide. And it is powered by the GP7000 engine, a twin-shaft with a thrust of up to 81,500 lbf. At a weight of 6,078kg and with a fan diameter of 2.9 metres and a bypass ratio of 9:1, this engine is always an impressive sight to behold. MTU Aero Engines has a 22.5% share in the program. We are involved in the development and production of the low-pressure turbine and turbine center frame as well as the production of high-pressure turbine components in Munich and Rzezsow. We also carry out LPT MRO and our MTU Maintenance Lease Services' colleagues provide asset management services for the Engine Alliance lease pool. The GP7000 engine entered service in 2008. It is developed, produced and marketed by Engine Alliance -- a joint venture between GE Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney. #A380 #WeAreEngineExperts #GP7000 #BigBird
