As I do every year since we started organizing the event, I will be presenting in #esLibre. I will speak about the free software community and how it should address several topics in the upcoming years, such as #sustainability, #feminism, and #recycled tech. As the free software community evolves, so do its people, and assuming that in the upcoming future we will need to face several climate and social challenges, communities that evolve tech for the people have the responsibility of embracing those topics. What are the actual needs of the users? Are we counting on those with fewer resources when developing free software? Are we addressing the gender issues surrounding tech-related spaces? Are we ready to maintain hardware and software in an extreme climate crisis? How are we supporting, as a community, clean resources? Are we taking into consideration the new life of old devices? There are several challenges to be faced, and from my personal point of view, several discussions are needed to build inclusive and flexible communities. I've been slowly addressing some of these topics in meetings, events, forums, and more. I found several points of view, not all them as welcoming as others, but I do believe it's the right approach for a better future, so I will keep it up.
