This project is set to pioneer cutting-edge ammonia-fired power generation technology. Green ammonia, created with renewably and electrolytically derived hydrogen and nitrogen, offers a carbon-neutral burning process, emitting zero CO2. Notably, it packs a more potent energy punch compared to hydrogen (in terms of volumetric energy density). Just Announced: “Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and Storage” – a one-credit CLE – is set for Thursday, Jan. 18 at noon on Zoom. On October 13, 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy announced $7 billion to launch seven Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs (H2Hubs) across the nation, including two with significant ties to Pennsylvania. The H2Hubs are expected to use carbon capture technologies to reduce carbon emissions. This CLE will provide an overview of the H2Hub initiative and explore several legal issues surrounding carbon capture and storage, including potential regulatory actions and pore space ownership. https://buff.ly/3sGMk4w

As the #redcar #hydrogenheating trial has been cancelled today, thanks to the relentless efforts of the residents and their supporting independent experts such as Jan Rosenow Peter Dunsby, Tom Baxter, and Michael Liebreich, as well as the support from the residents who had successfully resisted the Whitby trial, such as Kate Grannell, a reminder that the idea of the #hydrogeneconomy recedes with every failure to convert a sector or demand-driver to #hydrogen, because the overhead cost of transitioning falls on fewer and fewer end users, making it prohibitive except in the highest-value applications. Diseconomies of scale is what the #hydrogenindustry is experiencing. This effect has been clear for years, as the article penned by our Director Andreas Biermann showed two years ago. #greenhydrogen will no doubt have a role to play in the #energytransition - but this will be best served by realism about its potential, and by letting potential users make informed choices. https://lnkd.in/dB3uapPQ
