What my cycling club taught about pricing strategies. The more you cycle… The more important your kit becomes. For some it’s… A fashion statement… Others pay attention to… Its functionality… Its quality or… Its feel. Depending on your needs… There’s a product for you… At a different price point. If you’re the average rider with… Basics needs… The basic range at a lower price will suffice. If you spend hours in the saddle… You want the top tier range… At a premium price point that… Feels like a 2nd skin and… Is breathable. Failure as a marker of success Although this post talks about failure as a marker of success within a fitness context I think it is applicable across lots of other domains. This super hard session is an excellent example of how we can all use failure as a way to build towards success. When I chose this workout I knew there was no way I could complete the third part of each block of three. The first time the level of difficulty blew me away and I experienced a collapse which I then recovered from. The second period of failure happened after one minute of 325W and then I recovered. The final failure happened after one minute and 10 seconds of 325W, showing me that I had improved my capacity to work at that very high power output by 10 seconds over the course of the session. I am super delighted and next week will try the same workout again and see if my failure point can be stretched to 1 minute 15 seconds or one minute 30 seconds again showing me I'm making improvements.
