Introducing Alexandre Robin, Northern Europe Brand Ambassador at Giffard Liqueurs & Sirops, and this week’s #IndustryInspiration! 🥂 So far, Alexandre has had a colourful career in the hospitality industry, beginning in France where he studied for 7 years. Fast forward to 2015, Alexandre moved to London where he managed the bars in sketch London in Mayfair and FAM in Marylebone, before joining Giffard as their Northern Europe Brand Ambassador in 2023. Alexandre shares some insight into his current role as Northern Europe Brand Ambassador, explaining, “Days never really look the same. Between trainings, bar takeovers, menu creation, trade visits, trade shows, meetings... all of this with the 14 markets I'm looking after sure takes time! “This year, I am focusing on becoming the preferred brand of liqueurs and syrups for spirits portfolios and independents. Being one of the very few liqueurs ambassador is a plus, considering Giffard's wide range compared to other brands' single products and the fact that our brand is recognised worldwide.” Speaking on his love for the brand, particularly the quality of the products, Alexandre states, “Giffard's products speak for themselves, and their versatility is sensational. Being around since 1885 with quality that brought worldwide recognition from industry professionals.” The future looks bright for Alexandre, as he shares his short-term goals, “For now, the main plan is to keep growing the brand and the category, carrying on the work started last year. We are also running our international cocktail competition called the West Cup which takes place every two years, where we will select 18 world finalists to compete in Angers in September.” To finish, Alexandre offers some words of advice for fellow hospitality professionals, “The advice I've always given to my teams is whenever you have a spare five minutes, grab a bottle behind your bar and learn about it. You do not need to know everything, just what it is, how it's made, where it is from and a specific fun fact. That's more than enough! “Growing your network is also very important. I'm meeting people I haven't seen for years and still remember where and how we've met. Whatever you do, it’s all about loving what you do and having as much fun as possible,” he adds. When we were choosing the dining concepts for FIVE LUXE - There was one venue I knew we had to bring to JBR: Goose Island Tap House. 🍻 In 2019, I was approached by the world’s largest brewer, AB InBev and their local distributor, African & Eastern. At the time, I didn’t want to prioritise a beer-focussed venture; beer is a male-dominated beverage and I wanted FIVE’s venues to be geared toward all genders. Back then, FIVE Hotels and Resorts was heavily focussed on champagne, wine and cocktails. I was personally visiting Reims in France to do long-term deals with different Champagne houses, so beer just wasn’t something we were considering. The AB InBev team insisted on hosting me at their London location, and I was pleasantly surprised by Goose Island beer - Especially as I am not a beer drinker! While the pub was average at best, they had a great quality liquid with universal appeal and I knew we HAD to introduce it to our audience in Dubai. Back in Dubai, I visited all the existing pubs, gastropubs and sports bars that Dubai had to offer, And I realised most venues focussed on male-centric entertainment and low-quality food. I saw a gap in the market. I didn’t want to open your average gastropub or sports bar, But someplace comfortable that combined exquisite design, a high-end menu, and an electric vibe. It was a risky business decision as many people expected the traditional pub experience with a Guinness and chips, But today it performs as one of the best venues at FIVE Jumeirah Village in terms of revenue and award wins, and competitors are scrambling to copy our winning formula. 😎 On top of being Dubai’s most award-winning pub of 2022, 2023 and 2024, It boasts the UAE’s largest beer selection, A food menu that puts other pub grub to shame, 19 HDTV screens for the ultimate sports viewing experience, And social gaming activities that keep the vibe buzzing. Pernod Ricard, the owner of #drinks brands such as Malibu and Jameson, rose close to 5% in trading on Thursday after it revealed it was aiming for the upper end of sales guidance over the next two financial years. Sales may have slowed by 8% to around €3 billion in the #spirit manufacturer’s first quarter but investors are clearly finding solace in management’s expectations that revenues in 2024 and 2025 could grow by as much as 7%. Plans are also in place to improve margins by between 50bps and 60bps and although a “challenging environment” is persisting into 2024, the company, which also owns the  Beefeater brand, has a string of plans in place to minimise headwinds.
