#circulareconomy 💡 Chemical recycling is an essential component of a circular plastics industry. #SÜDPACK is investing in chemical recycling as an alternative for film structures which can’t be mechanically recycled. Nowadays, most of these materials are consigned to thermal utilization. With Chemical recycling, these film structures can be converted into valuable raw materials suitable for production of plastic polymers which can be converted into high-performance-films. 💡 Various LCAs confirm that chemical recycling is preferrable to thermal utilization, in particular in terms of carbon footprint. It enables keeping the plastic in the loop and therefore makes a crucial contribution to resource saving and reducing CO2 emissions in the plastics industry. Chemical recycling offers an important and indispensable part of a circular economy solution in the plastics industry. Chemical recycling can be used to recycle multi-layered materials as well as contaminated and mixed plastics that are not recyclable with existing mechanical recycling processes. Chemical recycling enables hard-to-recycle plastics to be processed back into virgin-like materials for repeated use and therefore reduces the demand for virgin materials ♻️ #plasticrecycling #circularity #chemicalrecycling
