What do $8/day for parking and unethical supervisor behavior have in common? Both are reasons that Senior Accountants, who I'm privileged to represent, are actively looking for new roles. In the first case, they're relatively happy, they like their team, the company, and the work. The reason that this sharp and personable Senior Accountant is ready to find a new company is their current company isn't willing to pay for parking. They are having a hard time justifying paying the $8/day... to be able to park.... to be able to work at the office. Now, you may have noticed that most of my posts are more fun in nature. In this 2nd case, I have to shift to a serious tone. I hope none of you are ever asked to comply with behavior or requests from supervisors that you find unethical. If that does happen, though, I hope you know that you have options. It may not feel like it in the moment. Your rent/mortgage needs to be paid, bills don't stop, etc. In this case, they were pushed beyond their line and reached out to me to help find a company that better aligns with their values. So, If you are looking for a sharp Senior Accountants and are either a corporation who offers free parking, or you are an ethical public accounting firm who is looking for a CPA with both tax and audit experience, we should talk.
