Excellent, solid session with Yelena Remus, per usual.
We discussed Dad and the upcoming occasion of his passing away.
Gonna be a very tough couple of days until Sunday.
I anticipated that scenario and there's nothing Solon G. Baker, ESQ, can do about it.
Way it is. Gotta adjust the best I can.
We also talked about something else.
Folks, you see me getting outta here? Leaving NYC as I've being opining for Lord knows how long now?
There was a poll in the NY Post taken recently.
Yours truly wasn't at all suprised by the results which were gathered.
An estimated 1 out of 5 people living in the Big Apple, desire vacating. For good. Permanently.
Never to return.
They couldn't imagine it would come down to this.
A metropolis they had once longed to live in, is now an environment, worth escaping from.
For reasons you already well know.
I've kinda known this awhile now, but the realization, really hit home yesterday.
Gonna have to rely on myself from now on, for there to be a smidgen of hope leaving.
Recruiters and executive headhunters in Florida, the Sunshine State, aren't doing the trick.
Same goes with my LinkedIn connections. Numerous as they are.
By far.
If I don't call them to press the issue, there's zero sort of response whatsoever.
How much longer can I keep kissing up to them?
Competition, is still super fierce for positions.
Hundreds of applications for each job I see.
The outlook is so not encouraging.
Anyone know how Arthur Conan Doyle, of Sherlock Holmes fame, came to write about the guy?
Trained as a doctor, he began writing because no one showed up to be treated as patients!
Out of boredom and nothing else to do, he began to scribble.
A failed practice, lead Mr. Doyle to world fame.
In the coming days, you're gonna know more about business and real estate ideas I have.
What it comes down to, is this.
I'll never stop looking for positions for which I may be qualified for.
But I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket, as the expression goes.
I can't. Not anymore.

1moI'm dating myself here, but I remember when it was a point of pride among news organizations that they did not lay off (especially) newsroom staff. I wish we could return to a time when all of the risk was not on the employee side. Please reach out if I can help. I'm happy to talk/meet for coffee.
