Happy Friday! As many of you know, this coming Monday marks Memorial Day here in the United States—a time when people pause to remember and honor those who have given their lives in military service. While this day may be a distinctly American observance, the spirit of remembrance is universal. In the U.K., Remembrance Day falls on November 11, honoring military members who have died in the line of duty. Similarly, in Argentina, the Day of the Veteran and the Fallen in the War of Malvinas on April 2 serves as a time to honor their national heroes. Such days remind us that many nations have set aside time to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, reflecting a universal respect and gratitude that connects us all. ‣ Reflecting on Memorial Day leads us consider the profound impact of those who have served and the lessons we can learn from their dedication and spirit. Across the world, countless men and women have laid down their lives to pursue freedom and peace. This shared history, though marked by the horrors and tragedies of military conflicts and wars, also brings to light the resilience and courage of the human spirit. ‣ What can we learn from them? First and foremost, the importance of service to a cause greater than oneself. Whether on the battlefield, in our communities, or within our company, the concept of service drives us to work not just for personal gain but for the betterment of all. It encourages us to think critically about how we contribute to society and support one another. ‣ We can also recognize their sacrifices by striving for excellence and integrity in everything we do. Our work here might not compare to the gravity of military sacrifice. Still, we can honor their memories by ensuring our efforts and initiatives aim to genuinely improve our communities and environments. ‣ Lastly, the harsh realities of war remind us of the preciousness of peace. As a global team, we have a unique role in fostering understanding and cooperation among diverse groups. Let's embrace this responsibility and strive to be ambassadors of peace through our corporate culture and the services we provide, promoting collaboration over conflict in every interaction.

As I reflect on our celebrations of Memorial Day and D-day, I am so humbled. Countless brave, selfless Americans sacrificed everything to protect our freedoms and the American way of life. I am so thankful. Today our freedoms are not being used to have robust debates to bring about positive change. Instead, they are being used to polarize, divide and tear our nation apart. You are either "for us" or "against us." If you are "against us" then you are the enemy. Instead of tolerance we have mocking, ridicule and outright hatred. Where is tolerance in this? Tolerance does not mean I accept, celebrate and endorse your view point or personal lifestyle choices. Rather, it means I can disagree with your view or choice and still respect you as a person and treat you with the common courtesy and respect that all deserve. Tolerance is a fundamental by-product of individual rights and freedoms, yet it is lacking in today's society. Our brave military sacrificed everything to preserve our way of life. Today we have people who have never served or sacrificed anything for anyone doing everything they can to destroy our way of life. What has happened to our nation? It must break the hearts of our veterans. May we as a nation reflect on this and relearn common courtesy, decency, tolerance for and respect of others. May we use our freedoms to make our communities and nation a better place to live for all, not worse.

Honor a Veteran for Memorial Day On this Memorial Day, I am honoring my Uncle Romie who was a cook in the army. He was a Forest Ranger and dressed up as Smokey the Bear to do education programs for the local community. He would climb the fire tower and look for forest fires in the national forests. His fire tower was like the one in the photo. Uncle Romie looked for something to laugh about because he reported me to my Mom for hitting boys with my red purse on the playground in elementary school which was across the road from his fire tower. I know he saw this as a random act of kindness for the boys on the playground and for me, too. I did stop the behavior after my Mom explained this would limit my supply of purses. The biggest win you can have for your organization or business is to focus on what value your strategy creates for your customers, employees, and community. Like Uncle Romie, finding the good in things and the value you bring to others is one of the keys to developing your strategy. The value is in the eyes of the beholder. What can you start doing to communicate your value to the person you are presenting to or serving? What can you stop doing that does not add value to the person you are presenting to or serving? What new strategy can you create to honor a veteran in your community? What is a random act of kindness you can do today to honor a veteran in your life? #strategy #OwnYourValue #MemorialDay #RandomActofKindness Photo of a Fire Tower in East Texas.

As Memorial Day unfolds, it's more than just a day off or a time for barbecues. It's a moment to pause, reflect, and honor the sacrifices made by those who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces. It's a day to acknowledge the debt of gratitude we owe to those who have given their lives in defense of our freedom and way of life. Memorial Day is a time to remember not only the soldiers who have fallen, but also the families they leave behind. It's a day to recognize the immense sacrifices made by military families, who endure long separations, frequent moves, and the constant fear of the unknown. But amidst the somber reflections, there is also room for gratitude. Gratitude for the freedoms we often take for granted. Gratitude for the quality of life we enjoy, made possible by the dedication and bravery of our armed forces. And let's commit ourselves to ensuring that their sacrifices were not in vain. Let's work to build a world where freedom and justice are not just lofty ideals, but lived realities for all. Let's strive to create a future worthy of the legacy left to us by those who have gone before. This Memorial Day, let's remember, let's reflect, and let's give thanks. But let's also recommit ourselves to the values & lets ensure a brighter future for generations to come. #MemorialDay #Gratitude #RememberTheHeroes #RememberAndReflect

ENSURING THE LEGACY OF THOSE WHO GAVE ALL As Memorial Day approaches, I find myself in a familiar routine: checking on the areas that hold so many memories, both bitter and sweet. Memorial Day is a time for reflection and remembrance, It’s also a time to help those still affected by the wars, to rebuild lives, and to make sure sacrifices were not in vain. My experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan are etched into my mind, from walking through Baghdad, a city that dates back to 762 AD to standing before Alexander's Castle, a relic from over 2000 years ago. Our mission was clear, but the region's history made things complicated. Reflecting on my time there, I often wonder: What is the true cost of war? How do we help those who were affected by the war? Questions not easily answered. The constant danger, losing friends, and the moral challenges of war leave deep scars. These experiences force you to grow up quickly, facing life’s fragility and harsh realities. Philosophically, my journey has taken me from feeling that life is meaningless (nihilism) to searching for personal meaning (existentialism). Seeing the chaos and destruction of war can make life feel pointless. The loss of life and the struggle for peace can make one question everything. In the years after my service, I traveled a lot, looking for something to fill the void left by war. This emptiness is common among veterans, a sense of something missing that civilian life can't fill. For me, the answer was in storytelling. By traveling and immersing myself in different cultures, I wanted to understand people better and to find stories that needed to be told. This journey helped me connect with people from all walks of life, gaining insights that enriched my perspective and gave me a new sense of purpose. I dedicated myself to telling stories, to highlight the struggles and successes of human kind. My experiences as a young Army Ranger have given me a unique perspective, one that I hope can help others understand and appreciate the complexities of human existence. Even if it means helping in the smallest ways, whether by sharing stories, supporting veterans, or advocating for those still affected by the conflicts, every effort counts. It’s about making a difference, no matter how small, and ensuring that the legacy of those who gave all is honored and remembered. #MemorialDay #Veterans #RLTW #NativeAmerican #MentalHealth #VeteranSupport #Philosophy
