Sharing light when the days are dark. Electric aviation in the Nordics has turned into a vibrant community of industry players. This report that I authored on behalf of NEA Nordic network for electric aviation and Nordic Innovation, shares insights in how aviation peer-to-peer communities and new actor constellations take on the most demanding mobility challenges. Electrification of aviation requires new skillsets, that one actor alone cannot handle. As a result from this new industry, people will be able to travel by air and in a sustainable way to places that were previously unthinkable. Read the report and be inspired by the way people come together to solve the great mobility and sustainability challenges.
Are you flying home for Christmas? Why don't you take the electric plane?🙂 So many interesting activities and results are happening under our #mobility program this autumn! The NEA Nordic network for electric aviation project has published a report, which, among other, identifies potential point-to-point routes for electric aviation in the #Nordics. The potential for commercially viable transports range is between 50-300km, and a potential route could therefore be Oslo-Gothenburg-Copenhagen. On top, there are already 20 routes in the Nordics that are short enough to be covered by electric aviation! 💪 The project has also worked on developing new business models and a Nordic charging infrastructure for electric aviation. The "#ConnectingEurope by Air” side event has been co-organised with Brussels Airport as part of the "Connecting Europe Days 2024", and took place on April 3rd at Brussels Airport’s Skyhall. After the inaugural speeches of the Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander De Croo, and the European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Valean, policymakers, as well as leaders from the #aviation and #industry sectors, took part into discussions surrounding the crucial role of aviation in fostering connectivity and sustainability within the #European transport system. With a specific focus on #airports, the purpose has been to underscore their vital importance within Europe’s transport network. Partecipants in the event also had the opportunity to explore some of the innovative #EU funded aviation projects at the on-site exhibition. SEA Milan Airports participated in this edition of the #ConnectingEurope by Air with two projects: the #eMAGO project and #OLGA while at main venue of the #ConnectingEuropeDays, besides the two already mentioned, it was also present “MXP North Rail Access” project. These projects are playing a pivotal role in developing greening strategies and green #technologies to make the whole airport #ecosystem more #sustainable 🙏 CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency #Horizon2020 #H2020Transport #HorizonEurope #HorizonEU #Transport

Bigger vehicles pose a threat to road safety, public space and climate targets in urban areas. 🚘 As many cities in Europe are moving away from a car-centric vision, cities’ public space should not have to adapt to vehicles’ widening. In 2021, Eurocities members already flagged the need for the EU to address the impact of ever bigger vehicles in our recommendations on CO2 emission from cars → https://lnkd.in/dXyDDzK Many Eurocities members are already taking bold measures to address the issue such as Ville de Lyon, Valentin Lungenstrass → https://lnkd.in/ekQESpw9 That’s why we fully support Transport & Environment (T&E)’s call to address this trend as part of the discussion on the Weight & Dimensions Directive.
