"Meow Wolf’s exhibitions have always been theaters for fantasy, centering the guest as the performer. Eventually, they were bound to find themselves in a city whose primary industry is known for creating dreamers." - Todd Martens, Los Angeles Times Los Angeles: We’re planting our sixth permanent exhibition in your sunny embrace ☀️ 💛 Your frenetic creativity, daringness to dream, sprawling magnitude, and futuristic view is exactly why we have chosen Los Angeles as the home for our next dream factory. #MeowWolfLosAngeles #MeowWolfLA https://lnkd.in/gpS4uuyp

Awesome news!!
Is LA ready to hire the most young, hip artists to build this fantasyland then lay them off two years later, just like Santa Fe, Denver, and Texas?
Designer + Art Director
2moI have had friends repeatedly gripped by anxiety and traumatized due to Meow Wolf’s layoffs and poor treatment of employees through the years. To announce this expansion so recently after your last set of layoffs seems unusually cruel, and I hope every one in the art world, including Todd Martens, is aware of this. Can we talk about that? It has been years of abandoning talented artists, trying to undermine and ignore unions, and treating minority employees as less than. You have a good thing going here, but you continue to tarnish something that should be amazing and inspiring to artists around the world. But no one should know the good without also being aware of the bad. The Los Angeles Times should have THAT conversation, before they fuck over artists in the west coast as well.
