The current state of play in the Telecoms/FTTX market - The Industry feels to have pulled itself out of the doom and gloom from the early part of the year as companies on a weekly basis were announcing major cut backs/liquidation which then fuelled fears of further misery but since speaking with clients and keeping upto date with industry news there are more promising signs that the waters have calmed and as the year approaches the latter months the market will be in a better shape than when it entered 2023. But be under no illusion with 2nd and 3rd rounds of external funding still underway for the Altnets/ISPs there can be no room for complacency. It is of paramount importance that practises, due diligence and efficiency play a huge part in the national gigabit rollout to ensure customer confidence is being built on and brand exposure is solid. "No, they don't let us do anything with the phone system." she, a VP of Member Care, replied. ^ a conversation I had yesterday with a client who is shopping around for a new "phone system." One of the biggest risks to IT is what we call "Shadow IT." It's when the business stakeholders go search for technology, and make decisions without the guidance of IT. Here are some tactics to mitigate Shadow IT - Ask stakeholders about the Likes and Dislikes of existing critical software apps they use. - Dig into the Dislikes - are they complaints or actual limitations that are preventing them from hitting critical KPI's? - If the latter, dig in more. Imagine if poor tools were preventing you from exceeding your KPI's - wouldn't that suck? Yes. Worst Case - you lose your job and can't provide for your family. Base Case - you stagnate in your job and income and can't improve the status of your family. Best Case - you win in spite of poor tools, meaning you're working harder and spending less time with your family. Yes, it's personal.
