When you only allow one house per lot, the logical market response is to build as large a house as possible. We only allow McMansions to be built, and wonder why builders build so many of them. From @AARP #ABCsOfADUs

Planning might not be the only problem for #developers, but it certainly is a major one - irrespective of the size of the #propertydevelopment. I could share a number of horror stories of relatively small boutique #developments that were not permitted to proceed as planned. One that still haunts me today where a neighbour didn't like the look of it, the #council was scared of the neighbour and the the presiding member at #VCAT is someone who 'hates developers' (as suggested by the town planner in the matter). The whole saga was disgusting and still makes me sick today and my client now stands to lose over $500k on the project that is not proceeding plus an additional $500k in potential profit. He has a young family and has just be kicked in the n@ts! The neighbour, the council officer and the VCAT member have lost nothing. I think this is a major problem and certainly one that will make a massive positive difference. #propertydevelopers #propertydevelopment #property #build #building #builders #housing #planning #permits

Knowledge Is Power, and The Power Is Now! This isn’t like 2008. Builders aren’t overbuilding, they’re just catching up. This graph shows there’s a gap to make up after over a decade of not building enough homes. Plus, builders are focusing on completing what’s already started versus breaking ground on a whole lot of new homes. This means they’re being mindful and that’s a good thing. Have questions?
