We asked some of our brilliant minds at Medicon Village how they spend their summer holidays and about their professional focus for the second half of 2024. This is how Anna Rosborg at Kry Vårdcentral Tuna answered: "The first part of my holiday is already over. I spent it in Portugal, on the Algarve coast and in Lisbon. I tried surfing, which was super fun but very difficult. The next part of my holiday will be spent in Österlen, which in my opinion is the best place on earth for relaxation and recharging. This autumn, my team and I at Kry Vårdcentral Tuna will continue providing primary care in our lovely facility at Medicon Village. Our focus is on delivering quality care, exemplary service, and high availability. We welcome both new and returning patients. Throughout the summer, we have walk-in appointments that can be booked through the Kry app." #brilliantminds #lifescience #sciencepark Kry

Patiro turns 10 - and here we bring you 10 important facts 😄 This month marks a significant milestone for Patiro as we celebrate a decade of redefining clinical studies in the health tech space. Today, we’re celebrating at our Danish HQ and at our global locations, where the festivities will be complete with traditional Danish pastries. Thanking everyone in our amazing global team for the incredible work, ideas and inspiration – and most importantly, we are profoundly grateful for the friendships that are blossoming within the company. 𝗜𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝟭𝟬-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝟭𝟬 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗼: 1. The name Patiro is derived from the abbreviation of “patient” (pat) and the Latin word for “recruit” (tiro). 2. Our weekly candy budget is quickly used, sparking ongoing debates about the appropriate day to start indulging. Monday is currently considered a fair compromise. 3. We celebrate three company events each year to unite the team. Maybe the planning committee will be throwing an all-out superhero dress-up party soon. Fingers crossed. 4. Our first meeting room was named “Scrubs” – after the TV show. 5. Following fact number 4, we have a bot in our Slack channel named Christopher Turk – honouring one of the main characters of Scrubs. 6. An internal survey determined the majority of us like comedy movies the most. 7. The same survey also highlighted Cappuccino as the favourite coffee choice among our team members. 8. Our Danish HQ office boasts a year-round view of local wildlife – sheep in the summer and cows in the winter – complemented by a beautiful harbour view and proximity to downtown. 9. We got three par-3 golf holes near the office and a weekly running club, which, during this winter, has become as forgotten as last year's New Year's resolutions. Instead, as soon as the snowflakes hit the courtyard it turns into an epic battlefield for snowball fights. 10. The Danish HQ houses our company trophy, last awarded at a go-karting event. We're open to suggestions for its next challenge. The last 10 years have flown by, and we cannot wait to see what the next 10 years have in store for us and the world of clinical testing. #patiroturns10 #healthtech #celebrationtime #birthday #happybirthday #10years #clinicaltrials

Piper Fordham, YSPOR Research Assistant, collaborates with Gu Nähtsey to enhance hospital support for Indigenous communities. Gu Nähtsey, in Hän, means 'plants we all pick/harvest.' It's also the name of the Medicine Working Group, formed in partnership with YSPOR and the Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin First Nation. The group consists of Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin citizens, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, youth, and community partners, including Dawson City Community Hospital, Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin Wellness and YSPOR representatives. Together, they focus on nutrition, traditional medicines, smudging and hospital access. Piper is planning to lead a survey that aims to enhance Indigenous health care. The Medicine Working Group is dedicated to promoting community wellness by sharing seasonal medicinal plant knowledge. Expert Knowledge Keepers/Seekers conduct workshops four times a year to teach community members how to utilize these local plants. Learn more about YSPOR, including an upcoming Health Summit on November 15-16: YukonU.ca/spor Photo caption: YSPOR supported a meeting with members of Gu Nähtsey and the Yukon Hospital Corporation to discuss traditional approaches to health care in the hospital. JOIN AN AWEMS SUBCOMMITTEE TODAY! Over the last few years AWEMS has steadily grown in size, with an expanding membership base and increasingly popular annual conference. While we are working on expanding the benefits we can offer to our members, we are also trying to develop resources that we can provide to the wider wilderness and expedition medicine community of Australasia. To do this we are establishing a number of subcommittees, each with their own purpose: 1) Wilderness Medical Response Subcommittee The AWEMS committee has been contacted regarding issues in the support and logistics of wilderness medical response in some regions of Australasia. This subcommittee will investigate real-world solutions to current real-world issues in wilderness medical response in Australasia, with the goal of reaching a consensus on industry standards with input from subject matter experts. 2) Clinical Oversight Subcommittee The majority of research into wilderness and expedition medicine guidelines that we currently use are based on northern hemisphere practices. We want to foster an environment where we can facilitate research opportunities and ultimately Australasian specific guidelines relevant to wilderness and expedition medicine. 3) Scholarship, Awards & Recognition Subcommittee We would love to identify, recognise and elevate those in wilderness and expedition medicine in Australasia who are doing great things in their fields. We want to increase the visibility of these role models and encourage more people to get involved with wilderness and expedition medicine. We also want to help increase accessibility to this area bywe establishing a scholarship scheme. Yes, these are some pretty big goals for a completely volunteer run committee! That is why we are putting a call out for some enthusiastic AWEMS members to help us form and run these subcommittees! If you an interested in joining one or more of our subcommittees, fill out this expression of interest form: https://lnkd.in/gPiZa6Pi We can’t wait to start expanding the area of wilderness and expedition medicine in Australia with you all!

Nicht uninteressant zu lesen (für Bergrettungsaffine): The “medicalization” of mountain rescue teams: a social and economic approach based on mortality evolution in the Central Pyrenees (Nerín, Soteras, Sanz, Egea) Conclusions: - The provision of “medicalized” rescue services and analgesia at the accident site are a human right and a duty of the authorities. - The provision of “medicalized” rescue services significantly reduces morbidity and mortality in mountain accident scenarios and, consequently, the cost of the accidents themselves. - The doctors and nurses involved in“medicalized” mountain rescue should meet the requirements set by the international community and the European Higher Education Area in order to ensure the safety of the operation and guarantee proper patient care in the field. - “There is still much to do in terms of prevention, training and medical care. We understand that it is not a question of charging for the costs of rescue operations or on-site medical care, but of increasing safety to reduce the risk and, if accidents happen, of providing “medicalized" rescue services in all mountain regions involving doctors and nurses with post-graduate training in Emergency Medicine in Mountain and Inhospitable Environments”.
