If we hadn't known that it was Oscar Piastri's rookie season in Formula 1, we might have thought he was a veteran collecting his umptieth podium during Saterday's #BelgianGP sprint race, going by how calm and collected he was on the radio. https://lnkd.in/eqARDBf9 All throughout this first half of the season, Piastri has been a refreshing, pleasant surprise. Obviously his car didn't give him much to work with during the first few races, but ever since McLaren have turned the page and introduced some phenomenally effective updates, Piastri has been right up there with his (much more experienced) team mate, Lando Norris. And this race weekend Oscar Piastri got his first taste of a 'hero to zero' moment. He absolutely smashed it on Saturday, qualifying P2 for the sprint race, even leading the race for a bit, and fighting everyone off to maintain P2 until the end of the race. Sunday, however, was a completely different story. Contact with Carlos Sainz on lap 1 meant his race was over before it even began. What stands out for me about Oscar in comparison to other rookies of recent years, is his incredible stoicism, both in and out of the car. I've rarely seen a rookie driver sounding so thoroughly level headed and calm on the verge of his first podium. He was calm when he qualified P2, calm when he was leading the sprint race and had Max Verstappen breathing down his neck, and calm when he collided with Sainz in turn 1 on Sunday. Calmness under pressure is an incredibly important character trait for elite performers. We haven't seen enough of Piastri (in a decent car) to know what he is capable of, but I truly hope McLaren continue their upward trajectory because I would love to find out if we have another future championship contender in the mix! #F1 #HighPerformance #Resilience

Tony Arbolino is leading the Moto2 Championship and is involved in a close fight with golden boy Pedro Acosta. Arbolino spoke about his approach "I think so far we have seen a lot of what we can do, we have shown a great level and both he and I have been the only ones who in every race have been in front. I'm not ruling anyone out or expecting a one-on-one, I'm just going to do my job, be fast and not make any more mistakes with the bike like in TT Circuit Assen. I'm focussed on myself, but it's certain that by the end of the season we'll see this one-on-one, I like to show myself that I can beat a rider who is very fast and who is doing better than the others since he's been in the World Championship. Fernando Alonso has now gone three races without a podium. He has put forth an interesting theory as to why that is. “We are one-tenth from McLaren Racing, so it’s not as bad as maybe the result looks. But yeah, we need to improve, there’s no doubt we made a step backward in the last few races, and everyone did a step forward" “Also it is a coincidence that when the new Pirelli tires came in Silverstone Circuits Ltd there are a couple of teams that were struggling more and a couple of teams that are very happy with the car now” “It’s not only us, I think Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology has clearly been hit with those tires” “They’ve been one-two in every qualifying, one-two in every race, and now they are not even on pole position. Checo [Perez] is struggling to be in the top 10. At Silverstone, I think Max [Verstappen] was only three seconds in front of Lando [Norris] in the race” “So I see things a little bit abnormal since Silverstone. I think you can feel the car a little bit different with the tires. But as I said it is difficult sometimes to be neutral.
