In 1996, McDonald's introduced a new dish to their menu- the Arch Deluxe burger. They invited fine Chicago chef, Andrew Sclvaggio to create the recipe. It was supposed to be the burger of the century. Things went on well initially with everyone wanting to try the new burger, but things quickly turned and took a nosedive. It would later go down in history as McDonald's biggest fail with about $200 million dollars in losses but what can we learn from here. Know your customers. Know why your customers come to you and not your competitors. No one goes to McDonald's to get a gourmet meal. They go there when they need some burgers and some fries and need them fast. That's what McDonald's known for. Trying to introduce a gourmet dish to the menu didn't sit well with their customer base. So know what differentiates you from your competitors and stick with it. If you want to transition and change your current brand's perception, that's a whole different adventure that requires a lot of carefulness and counseling. I have completed a case study from 8weeksqlchallenge. It's really been a great experience and I enjoyed it a lot. These are the scenarios, Each of the following case study questions can be answered using a single SQL statement: What is the total amount each customer spent at the restaurant? How many days has each customer visited the restaurant? What was the first item from the menu purchased by each customer? What is the most purchased item on the menu and how many times was it purchased by all customers? Which item was the most popular for each customer? Which item was purchased first by the customer after they became a member? Which item was purchased just before the customer became a member? What is the total items and amount spent for each member before they became a member? If each $1 spent equates to 10 points and sushi has a 2x points multiplier - how many points would each customer have? In the first week after a customer joins the program (including their join date) they earn 2x points on all items, not just sushi - how many points do customers A and B have at the end of January? #sqlserver #sqldevedeveloper

BEWARE: Red Lobster False Advertising for Veterans Day. If you are a veteran, you likely received an email from the VA with a list of Veterans Day specials and discounts. One of the restaurants listed was Red Lobster. Don't believe what is written: The date for the special is listed as Friday, November 11th. As we know, Friday is the 10 and Saturday is the 11th. if you went today, as we did, the restaurant will not honor the special. The special listed is Walt's Favorite...essentially 6 breaded and fried shrimp, and French fries and cole slaw. That is not what it states on the menu in the restaurant which includes only one side...so either cole slaw OR French fries.We showed them the advertisement and they said, "Sorry, but that's not correct, so if you want that we will need to charge extra for the additional side item." The fries never came...just the shrimp and Cole slaw. They suggested if we want the Veterans Day special they will be glad to provide shrimp and chips at no charge for the veteran(s) in the group. We have a better idea...just avoid Red Lobster altogether. Not worth the effort and aggravation. As consumers, we have choices.

Today’s Friday and Fridays’ are sweet…. Have you ever been to a restaurant that wheels the desserts around on display? My #hospitality education 🎓taught me, if you want to #upsell as a waitress, figure out who the weakest person is at the table and sell them. Once one person wants a dessert, the others follow and your checks value just grew and so did your percentage of tip (if your country tips)📈 Most of you probably already knew this already, but follow me here… I was at my grandmothers 95th birthday 🎂 not so long ago, and I had re-experienced the glory of witnessing that little dessert cart. (Why most sit down restaurants with the space don’t do this, I’ll never understand). The table near by was finishing up their meal 🍽️, and then the cart came. Rolling by with like 8 or so options of pure sweetness for every pallet. Here’s what that cart does, it finds that weakest link 🔗for you. It takes the guessing out of it. It sends subliminal messaging to you throughout your meal, watching how good it looks as it rolls to all the other tables, peaking your curiosity 🧐, and making your tastebuds salivate, eager to take that bite. 🤤 #RevOps finds ways like that dessert cart in your structure, systems, people, and process, to increase your likelihood of #upsell. Don’t be like all those other restaurants that ask “Would you like dessert tonight or just the check?” #hireforrevops

TIPS ON RESTAURANT CUSTOMER SERVICE 1) Always set legit expectations Clearly explain what they should expect from particular dishes, ingredients, production time and what makes it different. Never promise what you can’t deliver! An example, Customer: I would like to have a chicken pizza. Server: it contains assorted vegetables and chicken toppings mostly, this takes 25 minutes to be served. Customer: wow, that’s a lot of time, can’t you serve it in 10? Server: No please, this is because our toppings and pizza dough are freshly done So time is needed to get ready, that’s why. This saves the server the pressure from the customer because they didn’t promise what they can’t fulfill and also give time for the chef to produce a meal fully prepared without rushing. It also gives the customer confidence about the server and establishment on what to expand when to expect it, I mean who doesn’t want to have fresh meals?!🤗 You can apply this concept in whatever customer service establishment you work for.
