I think it's been far too long without nuclear as a serious part of the conversation for tackling climate change. It generates incredible energy from very little raw material, and the waste is also minimal enough that it can be tracked and stored responsibility, instead of thrown willy-nilly into the environment. Wind and solar are excellent as well, but given how devastating a problem climate change will become, it seems wise to have as many possible solutions in development as possible. https://lnkd.in/gwKkKKeQ

Please add in the cost of waste disposal and risk of nuclear spillage. Also how long it takes to build, useful life (30 years?) decommissioning costs and replacement cost. Then compare with renewables
If someone asks: "Do you know Greta Thunberg, the most prominent youth climate activist?" My answer is "I know William Shackel the most sensible youth climate as well as clean energy activist, and I'm proud of it!" https://lnkd.in/gBu77wu8 *************************************************** Role of Nuclear in combating climate change under similar land use with forest restroration... https://lnkd.in/gcUeyk8t Is Nuclear far too costly compare to Wind and Solar? https://lnkd.in/g5n66JEG Is Nuclear too slow to deploy compare to Wind and Solar? https://lnkd.in/g6Rww7JG

A group of young activists from Europe have launched a campaign urging the environmental organisation, Greenpeace, to refrain from opposing the use of nuclear energy ☢️ According to a report by CBC Radio, the five activists from EU countries who started the “Dear Greenpeace” campaign believe the use of nuclear energy is necessary to fight against global warming and that Greenpeace’s stance against nuclear energy is “old-fashioned”. France backs its energy mix, clash with EU invitable? ⛔️ French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire criticized the #EC's approach toward climate targets, saying it focuses too much on #RES while overlooking other technologies such as nuclear in the fight against global warming. These words claim that France — the EU’s largest nuclear energy producer — will again be colliding with the bloc's climate goals, stated in. e.g. #REDIII. To be honest, I do believe that French have a point there. It is about fighting climate change after all, and baseload will be needed to achieve these goals. One of the writers said "Never bring a tool, bring a toolbox" - and in this fight we would need much more than one single tool (RES) - BESS, CCS, nuclear etc. ⚡️ #energytransition #nuclear #renewablenergysources

UK shadow minister for climate and energy Ted O’Brien’s fact-free nuclear cheerleading is cover for the same old climate vandalism Technology neutrality is the best way to solve most engineering problems and limiting your scope to tackle existential risks doesn’t make sense. But we are in the climate crisis now and time is limited. When it comes to the energy grid, Australia, for example, can execute the necessary transition much more rapidly using firmed renewables – a significantly cheaper technology that the community actually supports and without the unknows and legacy ? https://lnkd.in/e4rGbkaF

🌐✨Get the facts on nuclear power before #COP28! Don't Nuke The Climate highlights some of the many reasons nuclear power is not an effective response to the #climatecrisis. Spoiler alert: it’s expensive, unproven, slow, and dangerous (and that’s just scratching the surface!). 🚫 In an unpredictable climate future, it's time to adopt safer and more reliable solutions. COP28 starts this Thursday in Dubai and we’re joining Don't Nuke The Climate and voices across the globe in calling for an end to the nuclear distraction. It’s time for real and rapid #climateaction. In Australia and around the world our energy future is renewable, not radioactive! 💡🌍 https://acf.to/40XCSWV

Prof. Brian Launder, giving a keynote address to the UK Heat Transfer Conference at Nottingham University in September 2001, highlighted four main technological areas which he believed, as his personal view, could minimize global warming. These were: 1- A major focus on infallibly safe nuclear power plant 2- The further stimulation of other carbon-free power generation, and its inclusion in the grid 3- Battery-operated/fuel cell ground vehicles 4- Hydrogen-powered aircraft #sustainability
