Word of advice for any companies struggling to consolidate their data: The cost of hiring a team in-house is far more than outsourcing to a platform or service. 3 reasons why: → You need to hire more than one data analyst. → You need to invest in 10+ different tools for reporting and analytics. → You lose a lot more money and time in the process. Going with a platform or service like Tydo for data management makes the whole process simple and allows for the costs to be spread out over time. It's a better move for your business.

Tip to find the people who are hiring: Use Role name and Hiring in your search bar, For example, I used Data Analyst here. Feel free to use different names to get more results. Select people, and put some extra filters, I used location and actively hiring, you can add some other filters based on your requirements. You will get a list of people hiring in that field. Send them a connection request with a note, or send an inmail and schedule a call. Not everyone will accept your request and schedule a call. Here, there are 381 people, assuming a 5-10% response rate, you will have around 30 calls set up on average! Sometimes, it is not just what you know but who you know 😉 Feel free to share/ repost

If you're looking for your first Data Analyst job and are concerned that your portfolio projects aren't "real"... Don't stress. For your first data role, good hiring managers will understand. They'd like to see: - Understanding of how data can assist organisations (creating questions/hypotheses). - Logical approaches to problem solving (rather than simply attacking the problem as a whole). - The best way to try to answer these questions (choosing the best tool/technique for the job). - The ability to effectively summarise your work and make actionable and specific recommendations. - Openness about what went well and what could be improved/investigated further next time. After all, "real" data work isn't that different.

There’s no perfect way to cold DM someone asking for a referral. So here are 5 really bad ways to ask for a referral so you can avoid them: 1. “Hey, b****. Give me a job. Thanx.” 2. “Hi, {person I’ve never met}. Would you mind to review my resume and my portfolio, find a job on your company website that I could check myself that fits my skill set, then message the hiring manager asking them to interview me (a person you’ve never met)? While you’re at it, can you also mow my lawn?” 3. “Hello! I have been learning data analytics for a few weeks and am trying to get my first job. Would you mind referring me for this principal data analyst position that requires 10 years of experience?” 4. “Hey, you’re cute. How about you refer me for a job then I’ll take you out for drinks?” 5. “Hi, how have you been?” (Sent to a person you’ve never met.)
