There was someone who always loved teaching, coding, filming, and writing. He really wanted to share what he knew with others, but he had a big worry – what if people didn't like his writing? This worry made it hard for him to start. But one day, he read an article on Medium that felt like it was written just for him. It basically said he was stuck because he wanted everything to be perfect. This made him delay things and not start. With this new understanding, he decided to stop worrying so much. He began by jotting down random thoughts on paper and asked a mentor, who was good at writing, for help. Luckily, the mentor found his writing interesting and gave him compliments and tips. As days went by, he confided in his mentor about his real goal: he wanted to share what he knew to help others. His mentor encouraged him to go for it without worrying about what others would say. So, he started his writing and sharing journey. A new explorer had appeared, unafraid of what others would think, and excited to make a positive impact on others with his ideas, thoughts and experiences. And just to clarify, this is a story about me and my first post on LinkedIn, marking the beginning of my writing journey. 🌟 Embracing the Journey: How Writing Became My Interest 📝 In a world where conformity often takes center stage, there's something remarkable about those who dare to break the mold. It takes courage, skill, patience, and time to step outside of the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary. Today, I want to share how writing became a cherished part of my life's journey. As many of you know, engineering colleges often lack female candidates, and my college was no exception. Despite the lively atmosphere of campus events like Antragani, there were moments of solitude that left me feeling adrift. One rainy, stormy day, while sitting with my roommate, inspiration struck. I penned a 12–15-line poem and shared it on Facebook. The response was unexpectedly positive, sparking a newfound passion for writing within me. From there, I launched my blog on Medium and poured my thoughts onto the page, crafting 8-10 articles that reflected my experiences and insights. I also ventured into the realm of LinkedIn and Facebook, sharing snippets of my journey with others. This post marks just a short chapter in my ongoing writing journey, and I'm excited to continue exploring this newfound passion. But more than that, I want to hear from you. Many applaud their year-long or more writing streaks, but today, I am celebrating the fact that this is me writing consistently for just a week. It's a small step but a big win for me! 😀 I have always loved writing. And I have always loved Math and computers. I have started to talk about those topics so many times but I have also stopped those many times. I have my reasons, they are many-fold 😅 . But they are better kept under the covers because they will always be there. In any case, now that I am here, I want to be here some more. Thank you Jess Ramos, MSBA, Ashley Ruba, PhD, Megan Lieu, Elizabeth Morgan, Carly Taylor, M.Sc., Stephanie Nuesi and so many more of you for inspiring me and making me take the plunge. I realized some things just take time but when it’s time you need to start moving. Getting the PhD was not easy.  Moving across two continents was not easy. Figuring out this industry was not easy. (It’s still not.) Doing life - never easy! But here I am, being vulnerable, putting myself out there and showing up. Because that's what the experts say is the right thing to do. So for all of us trying everyday, here goes- Respect all the hard work that you put in. Respect all your efforts. Respect all those times you didn’t give up. Respect your discipline. Respect your perseverance. Respect your spirit. Because there must have been so many days that were darker than the darkest nights yet you decided to keep going. Have you ever influenced a meaningful decision at your organization by a piece of writing? Or seen it happen? No? Then you don't have a writing culture. The absence of a writing culture breeds a permission culture, whether that's the intention or not. Because if there isn't an async way for you to share your thinking and influence decision-making, to answer objections or to even collect feedback to improve the quality of your suggestion, it means that you have to manage any/all of that in 'sync' meetings with decision-makers. But meetings are like clubs. The rights to admission are reserved. You need permission to get in. The better organizations find a way to crowdsource the best ideas. I wanted to capture the smile on my face after a week of writing for my PhD. I have always hated writing and found it incredibly difficult. During my BA and MA at the University of Sussex, I used to glue myself to my desk for hours at a time, and my self-chatter was always along the lines of "you can't do this" or worse. I spent 18 months agonising over whether I should apply for a PhD and whether I was good enough. Luckily, after a few Zoom meetings and coffees with previous tutors, I applied. I recently realised that having a positive mindset, regular rest and bringing joy to a task can help overcome a difficult task. So here are a few tips that have helped me enjoy writing - ✨ Don't be afraid to do what's right for you - I'm a visual learner, so my room is full of whiteboards, sticky notes, notepads and colour. I also use Evernote (it's great for capturing photos, voice notes and notes for organising ideas and projects) and Miroboard to help me capture policies, theories and concepts. ✨ Timeblock: break down difficult tasks into manageable chunks and block deep focus sessions in your calendar. Pop your phone and computer on focus mode to help you concentrate. ✨ Move: whether dancing around your room, going for a walk or going to the gym - remember to move your body. It gets your mind going. ✨ Take a break: if it's not working, that's ok. Move on to a different task and remember that progress isn't linear. ✨ Be kind to yourself: remember to tell yourself you can do it and recognise when you need help. Going to my peers, and tutors and reaching out to people for help has been essential to my professional development. ✨ Make your space positive: light a scented candle, play your favourite album and get some plants. J.K. Rowling's rejections taught me: Persistence pays off! I was studying when I first saw the movie - Harry Potter! 🎥 That time, the movie’s story, imagination, and creativity made me its fan. As soon as the series was coming, I was also growing. I began to gain a better understanding of things, which led me to research the works and story of J.K. Rowling. I found that despite facing 12 rejections, she didn't give up and ultimately succeeded in becoming a renowned author on a global scale. I learned how she kept patience and believed in her potential, writing, and imagination before the release of the first Harry Potter film. Without feeling lost, she continued trying. From that day I told myself: “Learn from rejection, believe in yourself, work hard for success.” Saying these lines to myself helped me to accept all rejections I received during my career journey, especially in writing. Rather than feeling lost & doubting my writing dream, I continue to upskill myself. This upskilling is helping me to grow my writing career. For me, rejections became lessons, and today, I help others write with confidence! I want to encourage aspiring writers, content creators, authors, and freelancers who are passionate about writing and want to establish their brands. Most people think we learn from our experiences. No, we don't. We learn by reflecting on our experiences. There's a difference between the two. And writing is a powerful tool for reflection. I use writing to: - Reflect on conversations, experiences, and decisions. - Understand and evaluate myself in those particular situations. - Analyze what happened and what I can learn from it. Writing helps you dig deeper and decode your thinking. As Dr. Joe Dispenza says, "Journaling is a way to unwire and uncondition deeply programmed old synaptic connections." Synaptic connections influence: - How we think - How we act - How we feel Consider if your coworker or parents said something to you, and now you have this uneasy emotion surfacing. That's some wiring, some conditioning, some programming deep inside you. You can use writing to surface that emotion. When you write about it, you bring it from your unconscious mind to your conscious mind. It's no longer lurking in the shadows; it's now something you're conscious of. And anything we're conscious of, we can change. Therefore, try writing or journaling for a few minutes a day and see how it helps you think clearly. #writing #journaling #clearthinking

Journaling has become a regular part of my routine for the past month, and I've been pleasantly surprised by how much it's impacted me. Initially, some of my peers questioned the idea... "Journaling? Isn't that just for writers or something?" "I don't have time to write every day." "What's so special about writing down your thoughts?" Despite the skepticism, I decided to try it out. What I've discovered is that journaling is a great way to express myself privately. It's like having a safe space where I can unload my thoughts—school challenges, friend dynamics, dreams, and worries—without feeling judged. Reflecting on my entries has helped me recognize patterns in my emotions and behaviors. It's like gaining a new perspective on my life, which has been pretty eye-opening. Plus, revisiting old entries shows me how much I've grown and changed. One unexpected benefit is that journaling has boosted my creativity. Sometimes I'll jot down random ideas or sketches, sparking new interests and projects. If you're curious about journaling, give it a try! You don't need anything fancy—just a notebook and a pen. It's your space to be yourself, and who knows, it might end up being more impactful than you imagine. #AIESEConlinkedin

Outlines, character profiles, and story structure are important, but only curiosity will get you to the end of your draft (and into the next one). With a bit of practice, curiosity can become one of the strongest tools in your writing toolkit and keep you writing long after inspiration strikes.
