Last week, I had the privilege of hosting a longtime favorite event of the DC chapter of the Association of Rice Alumni: the Rice University Student Intern Reception. Since 2004, Rice students have had the opportunity to spend the summer in DC gaining hands-on experience in the world of public policy research and analysis thanks to the Jesse Jones Leadership Center Summer in DC Policy Research Internship Program, led by Professor Steven W. Lewis of Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy. This reception serves as an opportunity to welcome the summer interns and introduce them to our little corner of the Rice Alumni network as they embark on an impactful summer experience. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success, including our incredible Clark Hill Law DC office team, led by Marina Papazian, and Rice Assistant Director of Alumni Networks, Danielle Jones. There are too many others to thank here, but I'd be remiss if I didn't specifically mention two leaders of the DC Rice Alumni network: L. Charles Landgraf, who hosted this event countless summers before, and our late DC Rice Alumni President, Tammy Taura, who always valued what this event meant for fostering connections and building community. It is a true honor to carry on that legacy. On a lighter note: No, Nathan Cook and I didn't coordinate in advance on our Rice Owl pins and hand gestures for the podium...
