Some people make it look so easy. In fact, many people think that finding a new job is easy. When you've been working hard on your resume, LinkedIn profile, networking, follow-up, and all the things and still haven't landed the interviews you deserve, that can be hard to hear, am I right? With all those late nights you put in. The truth is, most things that look easy are a result of hard work and dedication and having the proper structure and support system. If you take a peak under the hood, what it REALLY takes to land interviews for at the companies you'd love to work for is 3 crucial things: 1. Get crystal clear on the goals of the role you're targeting, the problems you solve for your ideal employer, aka the value you offer 2. Spend more time expanding your reach in your targeted field or industry through networking than you do scrolling job boards 3. I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face if I need to. One of the most important things to do in order to transition from ministry into the marketplace is to get clarity on the next job. Not necessarily the forever job. But the next one. Because when some gets clarity first, I see it expedite the job search process faster than any other factor. Here’s what happens when you have clarity: - People know what you are looking for - people know how to help you - the distractions of “could be” and “what if” disappear - less doom scrolling through job boards with no results - less wasted time applying for jobs that aren’t a fit - more likely to create an attractive resume and LinkedIn - more likely to get introductions that help you - more likely to land interviews Bottom line, it will take less time (and way less emotional energy) to get the clarity on the next job first than to apply for job after job after job with no call backs. 👊 #MinistryToMarketplace #Work #JobSearch #Career #CareerChange

🗣️ Your job search is bigger than the resume. Yes, the resume is a key piece of the puzzle, but having a strategy is the most important component to your job search success. Getting hired for the job you want at the salary you deserve requires more than a decent resume. You need a strategy. 🚫 If you’re just applying all willy nilly, it’s likely not going to work. 🚫 If you updated your LinkedIn profile and don’t actively engage, it’s likely not gonna work. 🚫 If you’re not thinking outside the box, it’s likely not going to work. Enrique Ruiz CDSP has worked with thousands of job applicants. He’s a senior talent acquisition manager at Thesis, a digital agency here in Portland, Oregon And Enrique has hired many, many people over the years.  He says the most successful candidates pay attention to three things: Your LinkedIn page, your resume and how you show up.
