After a whirlwind few weeks, it's great to be heading back into the office with the team following up on all the shows. We always do an After Action Review of events and projects. It is just 4 questions and we find it a really powerful tool. 1. What was supposed to happen? 2. What did happen? 3. Why was there a difference? 4. What did we learn? The only thing that gets documented is the answer to Q4. it's a great blame-free way of ensuring mistakes aren't repeated and benefits are maximised going forward. This time, I'm keen to throw the net wider so I'm asking you all -what were your learnings from the Q1 industry events? - I'll share ours here after our AAR this week.

Feedback matters. But what do we do with it? This ad from 1966 featured C.E. Woolman—the Founder, President and CEO of Delta Air Lines—starting his day by reading our "fan mail." The copy reads: "Every morning from 8:15 to 9:15 we read our fan mail...all of it! Each January 1, we resolve to complete a year without a complaint. But it's no snap to carry nearly 7,000,000 people a year with nary a slip. Fortunately, the bouquets, which folks are less likely to write, outnumber the brickbats. Each letter gets a thorough investigation, a personal reply, sometimes a visit. Keeps us on our toes! Delta - Best thing that ever happened to air travel" We have a couple hundred million more customers today, and I had to Google "brickbats," but we still listen to our people and our customers every single day (and more often than just 8:15 to 9:15), but what I love most about this ad is the feedback loop it describes. 1️⃣ Someone shares their experience and their perception of that experience. 2️⃣ Delta looks into that experience. 3️⃣ Delta follows up with the person who shared their experience. These are still our intentions today—58 years later! Knowing that the company, who you entrusted with your safety, time and money, is willing to listen to what you have to say, take action and follow up with you can mean the world to a customer. And even though it's not stated in the ad, we have additional steps in our feedback loop. What can we learn from the feedback? What will we keep doing as a result? What will we change?
