Congratulations to the latest recipients of our Google for Startups Founders Funds in the United States! We’re proud to back Black and Latino entrepreneurs leveraging AI technology to solve real-world problems and push beyond conventional boundaries— startups like Bountiful, which uses machine learning to accurately forecast crop yields; Akeptus, which helps homeowners optimize their energy usage and reduce costs; and EdVisorly, which  supports more community college students in their transfer to four-year universities. I had the pleasure of attending #GoogleForBrasil in Sao Paulo this week where we shared our latest investments and innovations in the country. I’m excited about the new AI-powered features and Search experiences, as well as local digital skills training efforts and initiatives that build on our commitment to generate positive economic impact in the region. Here are some of the features we announced: - To protect people and their data in the event their phone gets stolen, Android is offering new theft detection lock, offline device lock and remote lock features.  -Bruno Possas also unveiled helpful new Search experiences in Brazil. For example, in Brazil local users will soon be able to start conversations with companies via text message or WhatsApp on their Google Business Profile page. And they can schedule local doctor and beauty appointments directly in Search.  - We know people love to look at restaurant menus when choosing where to eat. To make it easier for restaurant owners, they can now scan their menus with their phones and we use AI to create a digital version in seconds. @JamesManyika reinforced our commitment to developing AI to positively impact society, including a Google for Startups Accelerator program to support responsible AI innovation. To help Brazilians learn new career skills, Fábio Coelho announced our Google AI Essentials Course https://lnkd.in/dHEd2vjj and The Google Career Certificate in Cybersecruity https://lnkd.in/dKAHiYEQ are now available in Portugese. The potential for AI in health is immense - improved access to patient care, faster diagnoses and drug discovery, and more personalized treatments. The latest Google for Startups for Startups Growth Academy: AI for Health cohort offers an snapshot of how companies around the world are leveraging AI to improve lives and outcomes – #startups like C the Signs, which is building an AI-powered cancer prediction system that finds cancer at the earliest, most curable stage; Thalia Psychotherapy, which aims to integrate mental health services into primary healthcare systems across Africa; and Clear.bio, which leverages AI to provide real-time glucometry with a goal of reversing Type 2 diabetes.

I learned so much by talking with Brené Brown about AI on her Dare to Lead podcast. Every day I am amazed by the big things AI is helping people accomplish. From drug discovery to improving crop yields. While I’m inspired by the epic opportunities, I’m even more excited by how AI is helping people solve everyday problems. Top of mind for many at this year’s ASU+GSV Summit was the role of AI in scaling access to quality education and personalized learning. I was incredibly inspired by the many educators, entrepreneurs and leaders already leveraging AI and ML to help learners and teachers alike reach their potential—but we want to do more to help. I am proud to announce the Google for Startups Growth Academy: #AIforEducation in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
