🔥Texas Considers State-Owned Aerial Firefighting Division 🚁 ⬇️𝐿𝑒𝑡 𝑢𝑠 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑜𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑝𝑖𝑐 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑤. ⬇️ 🌐After historic wildfires in Panhandle, Texas' emergency management director, Nim Kidd, has proposed establishing a dedicated firefighting aircraft division. During a legislative committee hearing in Pampa, concerns were raised about communication and equipment for volunteer fire departments. As the state deals with the aftermath of devastating wildfires, the proposal for a state-owned firefighting air force has sparked both interest and scepticism. For those passionate about aerial firefighting and disaster response, these developments mark a crucial step towards bolstering emergency preparedness. #BLAZETAMER380™ #AerialFirefighting #FireSuppressant #FireAviation

Helping the world understand wildfire resilience, prevention, and mitigation || Wildfire chemicals || Wildfire prevention technologies || Aerial firefighting & fleet development
Does anyone really know what this means? Although I'm appreciative of the commitment the armed forces have made for the American public on CONUS, this is a stark reminder that our combined governments have not taken the steps to ensure the US has appropriate heavy airtanker capacity. Once we see military aircraft engage wildfires, our capacity has been depleted. This occurs most years due to political in action. Three things happen here, the price for use sky rockets, firefighters on the ground are shorted, and rapid initial attack for successful control of fire is compromised. The consequences are numerous and include increased threats and costs to tax payers to the tune of tens of $1,000,000,000s annually, more resources destroyed, and the environment impacted. This is not rocket science, it's politics at the expense of the world.

Since Louisiana National Guard aviation assets began water-drop missions on August 23, 2023, LANG and Emergency Management Assistance Compact helicopter crews have dropped more than 1.1 million gallons of water in support of the effort to combat wildfires that have affected several parishes in western Louisiana. As with any state of emergency, the LANG is prepared to provide support to civilian authorities throughout Louisiana to protect key assets and ensure the health and public safety of the citizens of Louisiana. LANG and EMAC helicopter crews are continuing their mission of water-drop operations in Beauregard, Sabine and Vernon Parishes in coordination with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal Marshal’s office and local agencies in fighting the wildfires in the region. The helicopter crews have utilized bambi buckets, which allows them to draw water from any open water source in extremely remote locations, to carry and drop water onto fires. The versatility of the helicopter and bambi bucket combination allow crews to maximize the number of water drops performed during their on-station time. The augmentation to the LANG aerial firefighting efforts, through EMAC support from the Oklahoma National Guard, Tennessee Air National Guard, Alabama National Guard and Arkansas National Guard, have resulted in a rotation of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and CH-47 Chinook helicopters that have provided over 385 flight hours of aid from the time LANG assets were activated in response to the wildfires. LANG and EMAC Soldiers are anticipated to accumulate record statistics for Louisiana as they continue support efforts towards these relief efforts. #avfoilnews #aviation #firefighting #firefighters #emac #soldiers #nationalguard #military

🕒❗️When a fires start, time is critic . ✈️👀Active patrols are a very good (although unfortunately not very widespread) practice to prevent megafires . It is better to be safe than sorry, besides being a much cheaper 💸 and safer 🚑 measure for people, infrastructure and the environment. 👨👩🏢🌱 The AT-802 is an aircraft specially designed to fight fires at their source, when they are at their weakest💯👌. This is the only moment when these fires are most vulnerable, so it's more important than ever to patrol areas with high fire risk on a regular basis, or otherwise act in the first minutes to prevent the formation of large fires. With that, ground crews can arrive in time to extinguish them from the ground.🚒 💦🔥 ⚠️ In the face of the threat of a new type of fire, it is crucial to use the right tools and techniques, otherwise they will become mega-fires, unstoppable and with great destructive power.⚠️

Fires like this show how critical initial attack is to getting on fires quickly and reducing destruction to property and saving lives. It also shows how critical it is to have enough aircraft distributed around the state to respond quickly when fires threaten our communities. When I took office, I made it a priority to implement initial attack on all fires and increase our firefighting air fleet. We have expanded our fleet from 8 Vietnam War helicopters to 40 helicopters and planes. And we have moved our air resources to be exclusively under our control. These air resources give us a leg up in fighting fires and keeping our communities and firefighters safer.

A breakdown of this lesson in excellent communications from British Army following the bizarre scenes of horses running through London yesterday... Crisis communications need to demonstrate CONCERN for those impacted, the actions taken to exert CONTROL over the situation and provide reassurance that includes a COMMITMENT to learn from the experience. Breaking this down in this example: - Simple and clear explanation of the facts and what caused the incident. - Human and emotive message, without hyperbole, that addresses people's concerns about the welfare of people and the horses - Expression of thanks to those who supported the response. - Reassurance about safety and how rare incidents are. - Ends with a clear call to action to stakeholders - in this case the public to be mindful of horses. #CrisisCommunications #Crisis #Reputation #BritishArmy #Horses #London https://lnkd.in/eFKQSNhe

THE USE OF MILITARY HELICOPTERS 🚁 IN AERIAL 🔥 FIREFIGHTING IN CANADA 🇨🇦 During extreme wildfire events, more than 50 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and many parts of Europe, use their military helicopters, equipped with Bambi Buckets, to fight wildfires. Canada is not one of those countries. Although Canada’s military helicopters often deploy to wildfires to assist with the movement of people and equipment, these aircraft do not actually fly any firefighting missions – unlike the strategy used by more than 50 other countries around the world. https://lnkd.in/ekrg-YqX
