In 1876, during Philadelphia's centennial celebrations of the Declaration of Independence, Susan B. Anthony and the National Woman Suffrage Association presented their "Declaration of Rights" for women. Inspired by the Declaration itself, they boldly demanded equality, distributing copies to acting Vice President Thomas W. Ferry and the crowd.
