Really enjoyed my recent visit to Reidvale Adventure Play Association in Glasgow after they received a grant award from Scottish Children's Lottery Trust. Having a well-designed, safe, and supervised playground can be a game-changer for families, particularly those living in built up urban areas. It's also not just about play; it's a hub for physical fitness, cognitive growth, and social development. Kids stay active, reducing the risk of obesity, while sharpening their problem-solving skills and nurturing creativity through imaginative play. They interact with peers, learn teamwork, and build friendships, all of which contribute to their social skills and support networks. Plus, the emotional benefits are significant, as playgrounds are places where kids release stress, gain self-esteem, and practice emotional regulation. For families, it's a space for quality bonding, encouraging outdoor activities and providing peace of mind with supervised, secure play. Inclusivity is key too, with accessible equipment fostering empathy and understanding of differences. Overall, it's a win-win for kids and their families, enhancing their physical, mental, and emotional well-being, while promoting inclusivity and safe play.

From one course to another... Spent the last 3 weeks completing level 3 & 4 in Makaton. This has enabled me to learn more signs, and become more confident in using Makaton. This will help to support both children, families and staff, to ensure every child has a voice.
