We're officially in the hairy home stretch of Movember, and my mustache has taken on a life of its own! It's reached a level of "funny" that I didn't even know was possible. 😂 But you know what's even more impressive? The incredible support we've received so far for men's health. We're making waves with our donations, but we've still got ground to cover to hit our target. IT'S MOVEMBER! In case you think my spill chick is broken, Movember is a movement that began in 2003, encouraging men to grow mustaches (mos) to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. Over the last two decades, the campaign has raised over $1 billion to fund research and support programs. If you want to show your support, you can donate, sign up for a walk or run, host a fundraiser, and find a bunch of ways to celebrate Movember here: https://us.movember.com/ If you’re unwilling or unable to grow your own mo, talk to someone who has one, and ask them how they’re doing. Remember that men with mustaches are people too. Today marks the start of #Movember2023 and as always, I’ll be trying to grow a moustache in support of men’s health and raising money for charity to support this important cause. Men are dying too young, 4.5 years younger than women on average, and largely from preventable causes. Prostate and testicular cancer are two major reasons, due to a lack of awareness, and a big stigma also remains around mental health which prevents mea from reaching out and obtaining the support they need. As a result, every 60 seconds a man takes their own life, meaning men account for 69% of all suicides. Movember supports a vairiety of projects at a global scale to improve outcomes for men’s health; 1250+ projects, 23+ countries, creating meaningful impact for 18+ years. It's that time of the year. 👨🏻 #movember. When, for the fourth time, I ask men around me to take care of their physical and mental health and to check their nuts! To donate on the link below. Testicular and prostate cancer can be treated if detected early, but many are squeamish of the doctor and only go as a last resort, because, we are men. When someone breaks a bone, they go to the doctor, but when their soul gets broken, they push it down. It should be normal to seek help, without stigma attached to it. Unfortunately, many don't see a way out, other than to take their own life. Movember is an organization dedicated to men's mental health and suicide prevention, and finding solutions to testicular and prostate cancer. I'm eternally grateful to my family, friends, and colleagues who found compassion in their hearts and donated. When asking for donations I know it's a tough year. Every November, a simple mustache becomes a powerful message. For those unfamiliar, Movember is an annual event that encourages moustache growth for the whole month of November to spotlight men's health issues, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide. Here are five ways for people to get involved in #Movember: 👨 Grow a mustache: Grow a mustache for the month of November and raise funds for men's health. You can create a profile on the Movember website and share your progress with friends and family to encourage donations. 🏃♂️ Move challenge: Challenge yourself to get physically active and raise funds for men's health. You can run or walk 60 miles over the month, which represents the 60 men lost to suicide every hour across the world. 🤗 Host a Mo-ment: Gather friends and family for a good time and a good cause. You can organize a fundraising event, such as a party, a trivia night, or a sports tournament. 🤼 Join a team: Join a team or start your own to make a bigger impact and raise more funds and awareness for men's health. You can rally your friends, family, and colleagues for a bigger and better Movember experience. 💝 Donate: You can make a one-time donation to a Mo Bro or Mo Sister's efforts or donate straight to Movember. It’s that time of year again… and I NEED YOU! (Yes, YOU!) This Movember, I’ve set out to raise $1,000 for the #MovemberFoundation, who’s crucial research and initiatives are helping men and their family’s all over the world who are suffering from #prostatecancer, #testicularcancer, #mentalhealth issues, and increasing rates of #suicide. All donations go directly to the Movember Foundation and contribute collectively towards our Aunalytics Movember Team goal of $5,000. As men, we notoriously overlook our mental and physical health. The Movember foundation is the leading charity organization that’s changing “the face” of men’s health on a global scale. Since it’s humble origination in Australia (2003), the Movember Foundation has funded thousands of men’s health and research projects, raised critical wide-spread awareness, encouraged active participation and prevention efforts, and continues to generate new and innovative ways to improve men’s lives and stop them from dying too young. But why the mustache? For the very reason you asked the question. The mustache garners attention, questions, and ultimately raises awareness on the above physical and mental health issues many men face. It’s a catalyst for discussion, action, and positive change.
