Fitting in was my biggest mistake. For a long time, my goal was to fit in and belong. 😌 As a kid, I was curious and stubborn. But when I became a teenager, fitting in became my priority. I spent years hiding what made me unique. I wanted to be like everybody else. It didn't really work, and I felt frustrated and wondered what was wrong with me. 🤯 But I also knew that I had potential. I just didn't know what it was, so I figured I'd find out if I completely changed my whole environment. So after high school, I moved to the US as an au pair. I met a lot of people from different backgrounds. I started to form my own personality. 🇺🇸 Back in Austria, I wanted to pursue a career in consulting. But I didn't get into a master's program. My profile was too average❗️ That was a turning point. I realized that I had to make bolder decisions. I took the chance to do an internship at APEX Ventures. For the first time, I felt like I had found my place. I quickly realized that investing in start-ups combined many of my skills. A year later I became the managing director of the Austrian business angel network. I was 23 at the time. Now I invest in early stage B2B SaaS startups with ROI VENTURES. I look for founders who stand out, take risks and don't fit the norm. 🚀 I wish I had realized earlier that fitting in was holding me back. Embracing my uniqueness was the key to unlocking my full potential. ✨ #startups #venturecapital #USP
Inspiring! #1 Realizing that you don't fit the norm and that you don't have to. #2 Embracing it because it's what makes you unique. This changes everything.
Thank you for being brave and sharing your inspiring story. Laura Raggl We are all grateful to have someone like you in the Austria startups ecosystem. Supporting founders who don't ✅ all boxes takes a lot of courage but pays off by having truly unique solutions in the portfolio. We do the same at Kimolian Academy shaping the future of tech in Europe by support startups like Enable Good and Chaffer.me 🚀🚀🚀
Often the pain and frustration is what we need to discover how we are different. How we NOT fit in. Thanks for sharing your story, Laura!
I think you still realized it pretty quickly - there's no need to regret anything 😊 Many people never do or much later..
As Judy Garland said- Always be the first rate version of yourself instead of the second rate version of somebody else. We all are born with uniqueness and only if we embrace that about us, Will make us realize our full potential! Keep shinning 👍
